listed on CarGurus.Com, 1978 GTS. Absolutely love this color! Actually spoke with my wife this morning about it, hoping it might pal around with the other two in the garage. Was informed my car buying credit limit has been put on indefinite hold by my significant other. So I started looking into creative finance measures. Did you know that giving blood every three months and pocketing $50 a session , would only take 275 years to pay off of $55,000 note? Probably is pointless as I don't think I'll be able to obtain a drivers license at that age. Anyway this is a beautiful 308! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Guys. I Seriously like this machine but the wife says one of the others would have to go.. Anyone need a Lotus Esprit S1? Wanted to be sure this was in fact the original color before getting too crazy.
Hi. This is a factory color as someone stated above. What is interesting about it is that it looks different depending how much light you get on the paint. I have a very early steel 1976 308GTB in that color and really like it. Good luck!
I like that color too . There was a 77' GTB at Ferrari of New England last year that went to CA, the gentleman posted pics here on fchat when it arrived. Good luck selling the lotus!
They had two versions of Marrone Met. That appears to be the lighter version and a darker one. Mine is darker. Hershey Chocolate Brown Met. There is another Euro in town just like it but carbed. What are the odds? And 'YES' get it in the sun and the paint 'goes wild.' It is beautiful. No other color does that.
FER 800/C is a Glasurit reference, Bertrand; the use of Glasurit paints began in 1980. The car illustrated here is a carbed car, and a 1978; so its original paint is Glidden Salchi. The two paint manufacturers may have produced a color named "Marrone", but even if the name may be the same, you better compare the colors, just to be sure they are equivalent. Rgds
Thanks everyone for your input! Mark, yes, I was thinking last night that we had discussed your car about a year ago? I remember commenting on how much I like that color. Nerofer, as always, thank you for your expertise! Very much appreciated!
Kim, The "standard" Marrone for this period was Glidden Salchi "Marrone Dino 106-M-73". Unless the car has been a "special order", and a rare color specified on order, this should be the one. Rgds
The official color of mine (1981 308 GTSi) from the Heritage Cert issued by Ferrari (before they took them off-line ) is: VERNICE 133M7 MARRONE DINO MET The paint sticker under the engine cover is the silver Glidden Salchi.
The Lotus is a love hate relationship. Love the looks, hate all the design flaws. Drives me nuts. Haha! Positively will keep you updated! After a few days to ponder the 308, I've decided to pass on this one. Feel I'm a poor candidate for ownership of a Carbed Ferrari. Very beautiful car all the same.
Once the carbs are set well, they will stay that way for a long time. Don't let that discourage you. 308s look beautiful in that color and are rare. Best of luck no matter what you do.
Thanks Mike. I agree, that is a stunning car! My worry is that many of these older cars end up needing complete carb/linkage rebuilds and given my location, (Montana) this probably would end up getting trailered to Denver, Salt Lake or Seattle for repair due to my scheduling . My wife pointed out that the black 82 GTSi has been in my shop two years now and the plan was about an eight month turn around on a restoration. Reality is that it will probably be in there another two years with the Lotus following shortly after. Seems like another good thread topic, >> " How long and how much money did it take you to restore your 308?" Worthy of a Pirma ban for posting such material!
