So with the help of an F chat member in Italy, he was able to get a hold of someone at Classiche, and found out my color is really Azzurro Metallizzato 106-A-32. Not what Ferrari of North America had told BigTex (Alan).

Does anyone know if someone has a paint sample from a dealer of this code from back in 1977. I have seen a few for sale on the for sale area, but not in awhile.

Also is there anyone else with this color out there? Seems pretty rare.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you so much. I'll be ready to paint in another couple weeks I hope. I know it's taking forever, but other projects have come up and life in general. Will have had the car 2 years in February, so nothing like owning a Ferrari and only driving it 24 miles in 2 years. Oh well.

It was actually the Factory Website, that responded with that Paint Code, when I registered my ownership.

Glad we are back to a "metallic" finish though.

It will look better on the car, IMO!
    Thanks

What I meant is a color chip chart so I can get an exact match. For the paint color. Not dealer for the brand in the area so trying to color match is really the only option. If someone has a better idea let me know please

    Thanks Brian

    Try Ferrari of Houston.

See if they will batch the paint off of the historic code.

Steve Egeyd is the Manager, there.
Not sure how they will ship it, but they will know....

Buying one of the historic "color sample" books, but even then that's not a very big sample.
Not enough to scan from, in my experience??

Thank you. I know Alan has a keen interest it keeping this beautiful car original and perfect.

It's been a long two years but it's coming. Mechanic the first year. This year was just to much going on at work. Son home from college fishing in Alaska and golf. Some priorities over the little 308. I need to have it done for sure by June as I must be ready for the Ferrari show in Seattle that's in mid July.

My son graduates college in April so maybe he can help.

It's ok this car is special and will be treated as such. My goal is to win my class in the show in July. I think that with all I have done it should be a winner.

My friend spoke with his friend in Portland and looks like he has a way to make it from the site. My hope it it works. We will see soon.

Paint end of February for sure

For that amount of money, and taking into account the fact that when ordering your car you could ask for almost any color you liked from the whole history of Ferrari, I would check with the seller before bidding that the sample I am looking for is indeed in the booklet...
    But that's just me...

Ok well finally was able to get the Paint mix code and mixed up the paint. The one on the right is correct. Left was the attempt by the paint supplier. As seen not to close.

Finally close to painting this car. Had some
Winter hold ups and a 430 stick came home as well.

Will be posting more now as getting this done for the July Ferrari show in Seattle
    Is a must.

    Thanks Brian

My 1979 GTB is 106-A-32. Great colour!

I have just had mine bare metal resprayed, and had the original paint digitally matched. I was really pleased with the result. See photo, if you are happy with it I'll send you the paint code and recipe from the supplier. Your supplier could use the code hopefully, or just order it from the supplier I used.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

    Thanks for those pictures.

I think we have gone all the way around the block to end up at the color it showed when I bought it??

That does not look like a "Darker Blue" he insists was to earliest coat, although "in the can" I agree it looks much darker.
Maybe it's not so much the "darkness" as it is the "blueness"!

Yes, this colour varies enormously from light and dark blue depending on the ambient light.

Man, that's a beautiful car...especially with the 14" wheels. I found it just as beautiful than I did 40 years ago; a timeless design, if you ask me...

I understand completely the painful love and work and money.
I have lost count on the hours my friend has spent on this car. The other day we spent 8 man hours on the passenger rocker panel getting. It back to straight. As when Big Tex had it someone had dented the part under the door and also someone put it on a lift without putting the spacers up correctly and folded the back part of the rocker on both sides.

Realize I'm not a body guy but my friend is so I'm slower than most and he won't let me sand anymore. Now that we are at this stage. He alone has around 400 hours in this project.

I think the color on the right is lighter. I like it a lot. But in the light the color in the left can matches closer. If jersey308gtb has the paint code I think his is correct. We have sister cars. Not sure what his interior is.

Here is a picture of the jam. We were trying to save this so we didn't need to remove the sticker and the vin plate.
Maybe now we won't need to with getting the correct paint code from Alex.

    Thank you again

I've tried attaching the document here but cannot do. PM me your email address and I'll send it over. It also has the correct code for all the black bits.
