    Hi all

    Ive ben offered a 308 gtbi motor and gearbox 4 mine and just checking if its legit.
    engine has F106B and 00295 stamped on it can anybody tell me what chasis this was out of?

    It's the 295th injected 2V motor made.

    The 308s were not "numbers matching" in that way.

    Every engine spec "started over' with stamping numbers.

    Only Ferrari can tell you. It is from a 308 or Mondial (F106B went in both) and it almost has to be from a 1980.

    Since you're getting both a motor and gearbox I'll mention that at some point the Mondial got a hydraulic clutch but I don't know if it right from the start in 1980 or later. So IF Mondials got a hydraulic clutch when this was made and IF you are putting it in a 308 then it might not be plug-n-play. You might have to swap gearboxes or some parts of gearboxes to make it work.
