Need some tech advice (looked on stickies but couldn't find a reference). When I turn on my headlights (or turn them off), the left headlight does a good impression of a yo-yo, continually moving up and down. Sometimes it stops on it's own, other times I have to physically stop it moving by hand. Any ideas on how to correct his problem? Thanks in advance.

You could try changing the LH and RH relays for the headlight motors to see if the problem swaps side. If it does, relay is the issue, if not, relay is not the issue. If not relay then perhaps its the motor or linkage but I'd suspect relay first.

I had this happen on my 328 (not 308) after it went for a service, the mechanic managed to knock off the light stork end and put it back on 90 degrees in the wrong position, refitted correctly and back to normal.
    Good luck

Check the motor mounting bolt - if it's loose, the motor can move just enough so the armature contacts the live track and around we go again! Ask me how I know :)

Its a common problem on the 308, my car did this and I eventually traced the problem to worn / loose drive linkage/s which in turn messed up the settings.

Think of the motor turning in one direction only which switches on / off at 12 o clock (headlight up) and 6 o clock (headlight down) in other words 180 degrees opposing. If it goes past these positions by a small margin say 12.15 then it rotates again to the next on / off position which will be out because off the fixed linkage, hence the headlight continually pops up and down.

check the linkages very very carefully, strip them down and make sure they are all good especially the rose joints, any slack will cause you a headache in setting them up.

Adjust the linkages accordingly, its a bit fiddly but is easily figured out once you start. You also have bump stops which need adjusting to get the bodywork level once again

EXTREME CAUTION - Mind your fingers

Actually it's easier to pull the plug on the motor, but at some point you need power on to adjust.

Traced it down on my 308 to a blown diode on the headlight motor per: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/137419146-post3.html

However, under the rubber casing, the whole motor and electricals are covered in some thick, rhino-liner like material. Anybody have any tips on out to cut/melt/dissolve through this stuff? Would hate to replace the whole motor for a component that's literally less than a dollar.

    Thanks for any suggestions!
