I wondered if anyone happened to know the dimensions of the foam air seal strip that sticks to the undertray under the radiator? It's part 27 in the photo. It's the only part that you can't buy and I've found a foam company that can cut to any size.

Got the whole front off so opportune moment to add this since the respray

    Thank you.

Not sure about OEM, but I think I used a 2"x2" strip from Home Depot. Just use some spray adhesive on it and you're good to go.

Thanks very much for this. Actually for some reason they don't supply this price of foam. I did order the other two strips from superformance and yes way way too expensive for a pice of foam.

But was happy to be fleeced again to get it the right size.

Will check that post, thanks again

Thanks for that recommendation, Steve :)
No, I didn't make the foam below the radiator, since it's still in good shape.
And the main reason for making my own foam strip above the spare tire bucket was not only the fact, that it's crazily expensive, but because that strip above the spare tire bucket doesn't wrap around the frame like shown in the last post of your mentioned thread.

I have to admit, your foam much better than the original for sure. I still have to look to see if my bottom foam is still there. I doubt it.

Thanks. But no more crappy looking original :)
Sorry Alex for hi-jacking your thread. It just came to my mind, that I documented the template for the foam strip above the spare tire.
    See attached pdf.

    Hello Martin,

No need to be sorry, you haven't hijacked it as it's all good info!

I made the mistake of buying crazy expensive top seal and tyre well seal from superformance, I want the bottom one but they don't sell it.

My original side foam strips where still there and in surprisingly good condition!

The width for the bottom one is obvious, (using the full width of the lowered section of the undertray, but just not sure how thick it should be as my front piece is off. Any clues? I was going to guess 50mm

Where can I find those foam parts? I searched Superformance, but no luck.

Thickness I would guess -but really just guess- 30mm.

    Great thanks, that sounds correct.

Superformance don't list them on the website, just send them the part numbers and they have them.

I can send a photo of the ones they sent me if you like?

Not sure that is actually a fix. I believe the intent is to seal off air flow trying to bypass the radiator, thus making the radiator more efficient.

Note: there are separate seals for the spare tire area.

This spare tire bucket seal has nothing to do with the radiator. It just intended to force hot air out through the fender vents (and hood on QV car) and prevent as much as possible heat getting inside the cabin.

    Alex,

if you don't mind. I would like to see the new foam parts.

    Martin,

The one on the right is for the radiator, the one on the left is for the spare wheel well... but it doesn't look long enough to go up to the edges of the bonnet. It also didn't come with an adhesive strip like the rad one did. This is probably because it has to bend each side to fit the well contour. Not sure what glue to use that won't melt the foam. As you can see, it has a narrower edge which looking at the parts book, faces to the front of the car.

    Thanks Alex,
regarding the glue. I used a special upholstery glue for leather, vinyl and foam, which stands high temperatures, doesn't harm the foam and is also used for headliner tasks. If it holds the foam or similar insulation material beneath a black roof or black seats during southern Europe summers, it should be o.k. for our tasks.
    Look for upholstery supplies.

    Best Regards
    Martin

Seems to be perfect. They did not mention foam. But since many upholstery vinyl or carpet materials have a foam back I assume, this glue won't harm it.
Nevertheless I would try it on a piece of foam before treating your highly valuable foam strips from SF :)

It'd be nice to see a simple list of all the foam dims. Why is this stuff so expensive from the usual sources? Surely given dimensions, there are many suppliers out there that will cut suitable engine bay foam into the appropriate rectangles or supply blocks of the stuff you can trim yourself? Sourcing adhesive, cleaning off existing residual foam & sticking it down seems to be a simple enough task.

Just replaced all 5 pieces. Got them from Eurospares. The radiator bottom one seems the same size as the side ones except longer.

They all get them from Maranello Classic parts.

Stupid price for a piece of foam though.

MCP didn't have the part either. Their supplier must have stopped making them.

must have been recent as I purchased these a few months ago.

After I bought them I wished I had sourced the foam myself, £140 for a couple pieces of open cell foam!!

You can get the foam from a hardware store and cut strips to suit. It is a Grey foam that basically comes in sheet form, I believe. The reason is to ensure that most of the air is directed through the radiator and not lost through the gaps at the edges. Unless this is a Concours requirement and then you may need grey foam with a "horsey" on it.
