Has anyone machined a dust cap for the front bearing on a 308 to accommodate
the design difference of a 328 wheel ?

    I will buy a pair

    Thank you in advance

Tom, if I understand what you are asking for it is unneeded on a 328 because of the different bearing design. It is not exposed to the center hole where the big nut is.

I think he has a 308, and wants to put 328 wheels on it

I know Tom. Don't think he has a 308. Even so they just bolt on.

Tom, just call me. 512-294-9650 in case you don't have my Texas #.

My very best client restored a dry sump 308 and is installing 328 wheels on the car
There is a wheel bearing dust cap problem

I am looking to see if anyone has designed and machined a new dust cap so I don't have to figure this out

OE 328 wheels should fit over the 308 dust caps. Been done before with no modification.

328 Wheels should be a straight bolt on unless he is trying to fit 1989 convex 328 wheels from the ABS cars which would be an odd choice. Those wheels could lead to the problems you cite.

Had not considered that possibility. That's not going to work.

The 328 wheel will not fit on a 308, fronts, unless you remove the dust cap. Rears are not a problem and will bolt straight on. I made this conversion a few years back.

I stand corrected. Have seen them on many cars but never told that needed to be done.

Correct. Jimshadow here did a dust cap analysis and came up with a solution to this a while back on his 308 GT4 if I recall. I've been lazy and just put gasket sealer on the face of my front hubs, took off the dust caps and bolted on the wheels. Works.

    Edit,
Looks like Dom and Neuman also came up with modified dust caps for this.

I was looking at doing this (and have a nice set of 328 wheels I'm now not using, if anybody wants them); I was going to solve the problem by spacing out the fronts 10mm or so, which would give it a nice stance, too.
