Is there a way to determine if a small leak on the right rear is coolant or freon?

You put a pressure tester on the coolant tank, and then you will know.

Freon is a gas and doesn't form a puddle of liquid, any liquid leak from the refrigeration side of your car A/C system would be oil,and unless someone has put a UV dye through the system it won't have colour..

Most engine coolants l have seen have a colour of sorts, usually green or red..

If you can feel the leak with your fingers you should be able to tell if it's oily or more of a watery texture..

Another possible cause for the leak could be condensation from your A/C evaporator drain hose which is normal..

    Is your A/C working?
Was it working shortly before you noticed your leak?

He said right rear corner. Condenser drain is front center.

And the 328 A/C compressor is well known for leaks.....in the right rear. And if it is that, it makes no difference if he misspoke and it is refrigerant oil and not Freon itself.

Either move the airbox out the way or take the rear wheel off & remove the arch liner to see the front of the engine. A weeping water pump would be a very good bet though there are other bits the cooling system in that area that could also be at fault.

Before that though compare it (especially the smell and colour of it) to what's in the expansion tank. Leave a glass/clear plastic container under where its dripping & see if you can catch some overnight

Smell it. More importantly, look to see where the leak is coming from.
