Hi All, I had the small metal fuel door latch snap in half on me today. It is the small metal tension bar that keeps it closed when you have the fuel door shut. It looks like it would be pretty straight forward to replace. Does anyone know where I could source one? I think the thing just finally wore out.
I think this is what you are after. Sit down before you click, it is expensive. Ferrari 208 / 308 GT4: Carburetors & Fuel Supply: Tank & more: Stop lever for fuel lid /Peter
If you are in LA you could probably bring that to any fab shop and they could make that part for you for less or perhaps weld yours back together would be easiest.
I am considering taking it somewhere to have it welded, at least in the interim. Hopefully it functions as it should after that.
As it happens mine also snapped 2 weeks ago. Enough of it left to still sort of work and no way am I paying that for a new one. will find some way round it.
Hang fire for a bit. I have been in contact with Superformance here in UK and if I can get them a sample (which I am working on) they will have some made and a lot cheaper than Dino Parts which they also think is a ridiculous price.
Put me down for 1, please Though I think the Birmingham spring company could make them, think it would be a min order though poss 50. Lets see what Superformance comes back with
Good news! There are many GT4s out there with this broken, mine too. Not sure welding flexible material is a good solution, sounds difficult. If SF can produce them, or anyone else, I am in. Dinoparts was the only supplier I had found so far, but no way paying what they ask for. /Peter
I am sure there are many companies that could make the thing but I think Superformance are in the best position to place a volume order thus ensuring a sensible price. I can get them a sample from a car that is currently in a bodyshop having rear fire damage sorted, just need to keep chasing the Indy who have control of the car and have agreed to lend the spring (reminded them again today both on phone and by email). Otherwise I have a friend who is happy to scan his and provide micrometer measurements. We'll get there.
I would be in for one also. if someone can supply the scan and measurements (Mike) I would be happy to get a second price for Comparison.
Add me in too and I'll take a total of 3 (keeping a couple of back-ups). Mine was broken when I purchased from the prior owner; been looking for a replacement for over three years.
Oops, just found this thread: I have to admit that these items were way overpriced. Obviously they have been produced far to expensive, also if one considers that making such a part is not as easy as it looks if done in small quantities. I list them below my cost now and hope the price is closer to your expectations: Ferrari 208 / 308 GT4: Carburetors & Fuel Supply: Tank & more: Stop lever for fuel lid
