I had a test drive in a 328 GTS today and was surprised at how much I liked it. I was expecting it to be an outdated experience but it wasn't at all. I liked the steering, the noise, the gear change, the roof off and the wonderful view of the front wings. Performance didn't matter to me as I have a 458 for that. Congratulations to all of you who own one. I really think I am going to buy this car! Great fun and beautiful looks.. I will let you know when I get one. Thanks for all your posts on 328's which I have been reading.

There is a wonderful nostalgic feeling surrounding a simple car like the 328. The nostalgia is almost a backlash against the "computerization" of modern cars and it is exactly as you describe; the clack and bang of shifting of gears, the simple engine growl, analog everything, even the "armstrong" rack-and-pinion steering system. All of us here have been bitten by that bug.

Looks like you know a brace of the older cars already, including the 328, judging by your profile:

You did make it sound like you never drove a 328 before in your post ;)

I last drove a 328 in 1990 when I had one for a while. When I recently drove a Dino again that felt very different to how I remembered in the 80's and I feared the 328 would be the same but not so. I really liked it. Am actively looking for one now.

Fascinating. Our memories are notoriously unreliable. I'd love to line up all the cars I've ever driven for a significant period and see what was accurate and what was pure nostalgia :)

Great Idea! The Dino was the shocker for me. I had my first one in 1983, my first Ferrari and it meant the world to me, then I had another and graduated to a 308 and 328 and Testarossa etc.
When i drove a Dino again recently it was the rake of the steering wheel that surprised me most. I just never remembered it being angled like that. It was like a bus. I am nostalgic for the Dino but I was very happy when I tried the 328. I enjoyed that car. I don't remember too much about the 328 I had in the late 80's as it was when the bubble burst and I was selling my cars! I don't think I had it too long and it wasn't until 2000 that I bought a Ferrari again, the 360 Modena.

I guess in Ferrari World the 328 gets slagged because you know, compared to 400hp, it looks pretty weak.

But geez Louise, when you get out of that rarified world and compare the 328 to 99.99% of what is on the road today it screams in comparison. And in most real world situations the 328 hangs just fine.
