Received the engine this morning. All nicely packed up and crated. Just thinking of how to put the filters on the carbon bodies. Any ideas? Many thanks to Julian and Anthony at Simpson Motorsport (http://www.simpsonmotorsport.co.uk) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks Phil. Also came with the cambelt covers as well and a carbon box for the plenums. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congrats Sy! BTW - I flew back to the States yesterday. Had some work to do here. I might be back to the UK sometime late next week to attend a meeting.
Here's a comparison with Andy's engine. We were originally thinking of copying his air filter arrangement, not realising the TB's on mine were much closer together. We're thinking of cutting a hole in the engine lid to get some air in. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ooooooooo! You must keep this thread update with plenty of pics Sy. How about a snap of the block number?
Yep. Feels like I'm gettting a new car. Will take lots of pics once it's unwrapped. Will see if there is a block number and take a pic of that as well. My friend Raj. He usually woks on Murcilagoes & Gallardo's but said he'd do this for me as he likes a challenge. Ni pun intended. The mapping and final suspension set up will be by Simpson Motorsport who built and raced the original Le MAns racer. Thought it best to "keep it in the family".
Sy this (348/355 section) is a far better forum to post your conversion results and photo documentation The majority on the Club scud forum are negative tossers mate, i realy would not bother taking the time posting on there. They have no vision Keep us informed of this incredible LM engine conversions progress Just for inspiration http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYsQWOoySY8
Funny you should mention Club Scud as I've just been given a ban there today for telling stevef to **** off.
Congrats! I am excited to here more about your build. Can you list mods? What type of power are you expecting?
I am highly doubtful you can get individual filters to fit. I am thinking of a single plenum, and then a ram air setup like some of the porsches, basically modifying the engine cover so that the spot above the intake is a high pressure zone ramming extra air into the intake. You might need to either fabricate either a custom engine cover altogether or modify the factory unit. Let me know what you think.
