Had a machine shop make me a front license plate mount that slips over the stock tow bolt, and is secured in place with a ball-lok pin. No more parking tickets in downtown! I always keep my tow hook on, so only takes like 2 seconds to add or remove. :)

I still want to get it powder coated black or maybe anodized. Once done I'll add more pics with it on the car.

The same shop made me a rear one that is only 5" tall (6" is US standard) to better fit my rear euro-style bumper. Just trimmed off the top inch of the plate with tin snips and bolted it up as normal.

The poor plastic-bumpered soul Braille-parking into that beauty will get a nice goose to their Poopscalade!! Looks great!!!! May I suggest 3" spikes coming off the bracket's front for the full Mad Max effect? :) Nice work.

So all somebody walking by has to do is pull a pin and take it? No tools needed....cool.

No different than leaving my car unattended with the top off... Not going to start worrying about that either. Not that it can't happen, only that it's not worth the head space.

Here's a pic with it attached. Sorry for the dark garage... I'll get better ones later. Definitely want to get it powder coated black... The billet aluminum look is pretty stand-outish.

    Anodized:

Will probably go back to the machine shop and have a bit of the front plates' mass taken off... Was a bit over zealous when I designed it lol. 1/4" thick. 1/8" will do.

I hate to be negative about this bracket but in post #9, it looks like a mini battering ram! - It's just too bulky for the car (superbly engineered but too bulky).

With the cheese grader strakes removed, the sharper edges makes it look more aggressive than a 355. Also drops a few pounds.

I completely disagree with Phil. That is a cool looking piece. Very aggressive.

That's fine, it's just My personal opinion.

I would add to My previous comment to say that to Me, it looks like over-kill for what is required (and to be fair, the OP has said that he's over-engineered it a bit!), and it seems to stick too far out from the car.

To My mind, as the front grill is a dummy grill, who's only purpose is to give the car a "face" , and (where applicable), to hold a badge on, it must be easy enough to come up with a simpler method of holding the front plate on with a metal bracket (it's not exactly a whole days work to get the grill off either, is it? - It's just a couple of screws!).

I have to say that our UK plates seem to make things so much simpler! - Here's My car (the plate is held on with self adhesive pads):

Yes, your UK plates certainly lessen the burden

And I think I read once that its illegal in the UK to have the towing eye attached if you don't need it. (because of the extra damage it'd do to a pedestrian in an impact)

I have never been one to be politically correct so I will say that it looks grossly ugly and a waste of good metal.
