Ferraris are hard to get in and out of because of the low height and wide sill. Can the sill support the weight of a person? What if I use it to rotate and get my legs in before plopping into the seats? It's already hard for me to get in without opening the door fully. How about a passenger wearing a skirt and heels? It sounds like the sill could help my wife...... Would appreciate any tips, strategies or anecdotes! Edit: Sorry, got an F355 B here.
No problem sitting on it. It will handle the weight. The only worry is marring the finish, which at least on a 348, is pretty fragile. I'd avoid hard soled shoes, and definitely no women's stiletto heels.
Sat on both sills the entire time I was replacing the door speakers. But I'm sure some wiener on this forum will claim you just devalued the car $5000.
no problem sitting on the sills at all Chan, as everyone here has stated. Just risk of some incidental scratches to the door sils, but it should not happen with care. How are things going so far with your dream car in the "honeymoon" stage? Are you gonna let your wife drive the car?
Supplying parts to Ferrari owners, got to look the part to make the sale. Standing on the sill of an F355 with stilettos is just another day at work. BTW Daniel, I'm the guy who had trouble with the floor mat order. They're great so far; thanks for the quick turnaround.
Thanks all for the confirmation. We will try sitting on the sill, see if that helps with getting in. Albert, I think the problem is convincing my wife to drive it.
Haha! I had to laugh at the comments on stiletto heels scuffing up the door sills. Yes, this has definitely happened to me, and a little bit of leather damage to the cover of the mad mouse rail... but hey... it takes maybe 10 minutes to remove both parts. I still have some extra leather and "IZIT" to repair the rail, and repainting the sill is quick and reasonably easy... ... the colorful and attractive company that did said damage? All I can say is well worth the tradeoff (especially since it was unintentional, and all those glasses of wine I'm sure didn't help). 8P
Yes, you can sit or stand on them. If you go with aftermarket carbon sills, they are just as strong, but can scratch easily so be careful. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm not sure how siting on the door sills would help your wife get in the car in a skirt and heels. I think a picture might help here.
