Does anyone have any info on VIN 0082618? red over tan, only has 27k on the clock, I'm pretty interested in it, BUT (yup there it is) they have ZERO, ZILCH, NADA maintenance records. Carfax says sold in Houston TX in 10/1990... looks like 6 possible owners... 1989 Ferrari 348TS Charlotte, North Carolina | Planet Auto Imports thanks! Enjoy the drive!
yeah, they said they have had it quite some time... they seemed interested in a low 30s offer... just wondering about that t-belt................ sketchy
Could not access/see the CarFax, always my first thing to look at. If stuff looks funny on the CarFax something might be funny on the car .... Flip, flip, flip, auction, auction always raises my eyebrows. Sometimes the CarFax will list a dealer/shop that serviced the vehicle so you may find some history there, some actually list an address and phone number of where the work was done.
Those are not all owners. CarFax is a joke for the most part and should only be used as one tool. It is showing all the dealers as owners. I would go look at the car and get it chkd out. Looks like a great deal.
Abused cars IMO are pretty easy to spot. That interior has definitely NOT been abused. The body looks nice in the pics. exhaust looks a little low but it may have an after market on there. engine looks real clean.....needs mats and those tires suck but that's all personal preference
Go to the nc/sc section and ask there if you have not done so. Contact Kevin of CAFE Charlotte Area Ferrari Enthusiast he can help.
The problem with the body is that it's a 1989 TS and so should have black lower panels rather than body color. Apart from that, the targa roof not being shown, and the exhaust pipes needing raised a tad, the pictures do look nice. Certainly worth a PPI. All the best, Andrew.
Odd observation, as mentioned the CarFax is a tool but ..... CarFax usually has a section that lists owners, amount of time they owned the car, and mileage during their ownership, don't see that. Also a bit odd that the only dealer/shop listed is the current one .... Planetsuuki. But flag is yellow at this point in my mind and not red yet. Remember a claim of "full service" only 200 miles ago ...... Could have been done 5 years ago. So use all tools available, toss your concerns up here on F chat with the vin if possible, so one on here may know the car nd the history behind it.
I love this, so whatever you decide as seen above .... The eyes and minds of F chatters can "spot" something in a picture that is out of place or not "normal" instantly. The interior looks excellent for the age, so do your research, ask questions and the PPI costs money but could save you a lot down the road. As mentioned find an F chatter in your area, fanatics love to assist another fanatic.
I wouldn't consider any thread discussing a 348 as a waste, but I understand the sentiment. Someone out there might find the thread useful, even if it's not the OP. All the best, Andrew.
Id take a 355, sure, but this 348 just caught my eye at that price point. But I'm a total sucker for carbed cars though, and Im sure many share my sentiment about the 308... This was my first time seriously looking at buying an FCar, and Ive read alot of horror stories about cars that sit forever, flipped a thousand times, and no service records, this and that... Not going to drop $35k and still need $8k of service, whether I can perform the service myself or not, its still going to cost, and Id be nervous about that belt/ tensioner bearings until I did it... enjoy the drive/
