Wondering if anyone knows from real world experience whether the 5.2 fuel injectors can be used in a 2.7? If not, why can't they be used? The motors are essentially identical with only management systems varying which makes me wonder why injectors would not be interchangeable. Thoughts? Thanks!
How much of a difference can there be? Both motors are officially rated at the same HP but my understanding is the 2.7 makes about 10hp more. Either way I'd imagine there would not be much of a difference flow rate wise. (E.g., same displacement, same basic HP.) Do you know the flow rate? So far one Ferrari specialist /mechanic says they are interchangeable. Thanks
That specialist/mechanic is incorrect. 2.7 is 26lb/hr and 5.2 is 23lb/hr. That means installing 5.2 injectors in a 2.7 would result in 11% positive fuel trims under closed loop conditions and 11% lean condition under wide open throttle. If that sounds correct to you than yes they are interchangeable.

Are the fuel pressures the same for the 2.7 and 5.2? I wonder if varying fuel pressure regulators used.? 2.7 injectors seem much harder to come by than the 5.2 variety.
The first thing to check about injectors compatibility is the resistance of their solenoids. There are high and low resistance types which are not interchangeable irrespective of the flow. If both, 2.7 and 5.2, injectors have same solenoid resistance, then they might be interchangeable. I believe that the somewhat leaner mixture that 5.2 injectors provide (23 vs. 26 lb) would be picked-up by the O2 sensors and compensated for by the ECU by slightly extending the injector opening times.
Isn't there a company which offers upgraded injectors with higher flow rates for both 2.7 and 5.2? And they "guarantee" no issues? Does anyone have first hand experience with these?
Higher flow rate isn't an upgrade, it's just incorrect. Only way to properly change injector size is to remap motronic.
Both 355 injectors (2.7 & 5.2) have high resistance solenoid coils. You need to verify the resistance of the injectors. I do not think that the 2.7 and 5.2 is the same. I do know that you cannot run 355 injectors in a 348, even if you have the 355 TB's installed.
Here's more detailed info on the 355 and alternative injectors for 2.7. Saab injectors (Saab 9-3 (YS3D) 2.0 Lit B205L, p/n 9188707) appear to be closest and are available at about GBP 50. Saab injector resistance is a bit higher than 355 2.7 but this should not be a problem. The Saab injector "operating pressure" (I think this means maximum pressure) is 3 bar as compared to 3.8 bar of 355 2.7; this, again, should not be an issue as the 355 fuel system operates at 3 bar.
