Finally time for an intro! Thanks to everyone for all the great info, advice and feedback on this site -- I am the new owner of a 1995 F355 Berlinetta. I've searched for over a year for a non-red/yellow GTB and when I saw a white/black listed for sale, I had to jump on it. It's a two-owner, drivers car that just had it's major completed/valve guides done/stickies addressed, and the overall condition of the car is great and I'll slowly work on getting the condition as perfect as I can. Look forward to learning more, improving all aspects of the car and driving it as much as I can. First update will be to swap out the existing Tubi style Challenge exhaust (way too loud at idle) and install a Capristo Sound 3 which arrives in a few days! A few photos with some other car guys around the area welcoming the new addition. Wow, only color i like more than mine. Beautiful! enjoy Those back tires look to have a very low profile, what size are they?
wow, that colour is beautiful! I just jumped into the 355 world also, will be interested in following your progress. congrats! and enjoy it!
Congratulations!! I love the car in white! It grows on me more and more every time I see one! Enjoy!!
Great car, white was my first color choice, but man are they rare. Was this one listed on F-chat for a bit?
Awesome pics! I had no idea how great 355Bs look in white! A rear challenge grille would be killer on that car.
So pretty.... I'm speechless. Please get a challenge grill and get rid of the amber lights. Congrats!!! Enjoy her in good health.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I know -- thanks again for all the tips and advice. Impressive eye, you're right, they're 265/35/18 -- not sure why the PO picked that size, but since they're brand new tires, I'll put some miles on before swapping to new tires. Sounds like some people have put on 295/35/18 tires, does it look like too much rubber on the rear wheels? This was listed on eBay for a few days and we closed the deal offline. Challenge grill is on the list! In general, I don't like amber lights (first thing I replaced on my 993), but for some reason the ambers here seem to fit the car IMO. But I may change my mind at some point.
Mostly it comes down to personal preference. in 1994 tire technology was much lower than today and there were not many sizes available. 265/40 is tall tire in todays standards and a 295/35 is the same height, just wider. I compromised and am extremely pleased with 285/35 MPSS. it just looks right IMO. Not to tall or short and doesn't look pinched on the rim. I also helped with oversteer at the track. I would definitely look keep those one you have on the car for now, but consider leveling the car by lowering the front if you are good at avoiding scraping, or raise the rear just a tad. You should take a drive out to muir woods or Battery Spencer and take some shots of the car up there!
That car is awesome, so good looking!! Big congrats, you deserve it especially after such a long wait. I like the amber lights on all colors of 355's, for some reason the clears look a bit ricer and aftermarket. Funny how in Europe they like the amber over clear IIRC. How do you like driving it? Have you pushed it on some curves yet? I can hook you into my private track group that I run my 911 with... going tomorrow even though it's raining.
Good tips -- thanks. That's how I feel -- the clear lights look more aftermarket although they're the euro version. The drive has been amazing, but given the idle for this exhaust is a bit loud for my tastes, I can't wait to get the Capristo sound 3 installed! Do you have the photo in full color? Would love to see more pics.
There are a bunch of great 355 owners in the Bay Area (true enthusiasts and great overall people). Get involved in the FOG group for a drive and you will meet many of them amongst many great F-owners...there is a white 348 that often drives with the FOG group, and hopefully a 355...
