Anyone know roughly month and year cutoffs for the 355 for build and model year determination. IE, Cars built in sept 94 are 95s model years. Just curious if any ferrari experts have the answers.
Hi Grant, I just took a look at my 98 - it's January 98. I believe the new build year starts somewhere in June. Example: June 94 would be a 95 model year.
Following Dave's lead then does anyone have a june or july 98 and most importantly for Berlinettas (since I own one) Who has some of the first 1995s so build of june or july 94 and who has some of the last 99s april or may 99. Just curious is all
Grant, the 95 I sold was the 15th 355 to come to North America and it was a July 94 build date. F355Bob's was a couple cars prior to mine. Guessing same build month - Bob?
Good question. I have dealer print outs of all of my cars but I'm too lazy at this moment to go to my office and look them up on my server. I'll post sometime tomorrow.
I will check next week when I take a look at the car.. At the shop.I am not positive it was April, but that month sticks in my memory. It is a 10005 serial #.
Since '94s were not imported to the US, they probably started building "1995s" earlier than usual in '94. And since '96s had a new motronic system, they "may" have started building them later in '95 than usual. Don't forget the lee-way they had in those days.
If it was early 1995, the MY 1995 CARB sticker will have number 160733 while later 1995 ones have sticker number 160734. Hope this is useful in determining early cars.
Your VIN must be pretty close to mine as my car is also a Jan '98. I wonder how many they made each month?
Where is the date label? I thought it was on the drivers door, but the mechanic who is working on my major can't find it.
Hey Bob - I kinda knew that If you recall, your car was 2 or 3 before the one I sold Regardless - it's super cool to see these really early cars - especially like yours and mine that have the large under tray.
