While surfing on YouTube I came across a few videos of a SLAMMED 348. The Japanese car culture is currently in a low as you can go faze. As is big wheels, dump it on the floor, camber be damned. On one note I wouldn't do this to my 348. But on the other hand I dig it because the owner customized his 348.

Here are some screen shots of this particular 348 riding on either air bags or hydraulics.

Here is the first video I saw of it.

If you don't want to watch the whole thing the 348 appears at 1:25 and 2:45 into the video.

The 2nd video with the suspension moving up and down. His exhaust doesn't sound half bad either.

So unbelievably ignorant. How can this mistreatment of a great car be considered an achievement? It's abuse, plain and simple. Immaturity at its finest.

I have never been impressed with "kids" who sit there in neutral and hold the gas pedal to the floor ?
I see Hondas around with wheels tilted like this, his Ferrari looks just like them.
Only thing he is missing is metal 3 lb coffee cans welded to his exhaust tips ;)

I believe this car has been discussed here before or if not this one, another slammed 348.

How would you guys like it if someone told you what not to do with your car modifications wise? Not my style but it's not my money either...

I'd have no problem taking a tongue-lashing. People are free to share opinions, just as he is free to to what he pleases. I'd also take it under consideration if there is a consistent pattern or bias to the feedback.

To me, the kid just seems immature, and frankly, dumb with what he did to the car. Feel bad for the poor 348 that fell victim to his knife.

How To Slam A Ferrari - Speedhunters

"Ginpei-san had no interest in newer Ferraris – to him they’ve just lost too much of their driving purity to an overabundance electronic driver aids."

"I should ask you to stay open-minded and just appreciate the hard work and gumption that it took for Ginpei-san to do what he has with his 348, but to be frank, this car has some real shortcomings... the ride quality is just plain horrible. I spent a few days riding around in the 348, but I could never get use to the scraping and banging as the subframe duked it out with the pavement. It was mechanical torture."

"Since there really isn’t an aftermarket suspension kit on the market that would take the Ferrari down to the height Ginpei-san wanted it to be (and let’s face it, why would there be?), he decided the quickest way to get the desired result was to go old school and just cut the springs... the ride quality turn to absolute garbage... he borrowed the suspension from a JZX Toyota sitting outside his shop and shockingly rode around for two years with the temporary fix."

From the photos, the car is leading a tortured chapter in its life, the owner couldn't even be bothered to clean up the interior for photos, with dirt and crud about the cabin. I haven't seen the car in person, but the general consensus that I've heard is that under the coating of red paint, the bodywork around the rear fenders is 'rough' to put it politely.

In conclusion, it's a kid that happened to get ahold of an unlucky car, for the purposes of "revving it up to 6k rpm" at stoplights, and fitting his "all-time favorite wheel" while dumping it stupid low. Basically, what you do to a beat Honda hatch. The irony of the "driving purity" quip is not lost when viewed against the outcome.

If you're going to modify your car to the point where it is the automotive equivalent of a porn star with with beach ball sized fake breasts ,then you have to accept that there are going to be plenty of people who say that it looks s:censored:t!

In the free World, we have the right to say we think something looks s:censored:t if we think it looks s:censored:t - And in My opinion, this car looks s:censored:t!

I've said this before about that car, but if he skipped the hydraulics and the camber crap and just lowered it regularly with decent alignment, those wheels would actually look pretty nice on that car...

Wheels are nice except they stick out past the wheel wells and are running stretched tire sizes.

I would agree the tilted wheels just look awful. To make this more acceptable I would cut the wheel fender lips, extend them to make a slight wide body and run 22's tucked in nicely. Never liked wheels that stick out but extending the fender adding a little bit more curve might be cool.

Check out the 458 wide body. The fenders look like what I was trying to describe..

The kids in Japan have been doing the tilted wheels thing for over 20 years now.

I was in Japan back in '96 and everyday walked past a Nissan Cedric fitted with the biggest wheels possible, all four of which were sat at an angle of @ 45° to the road (TBH, at first I thought the suspension had collapsed, but then I saw it being driven on the road one day and was told that it was the latest craze).

It looked so stupid, and then I noticed that the tyres were worn through to the cords on all four inner edges, whilst the outer edges were like brand new!

I asked a Japanese friend why the owner hadn't turned the tyres round on the rim to put the worn-out inner shoulders on the outside so that they were no longer in contact with the road, and he told Me it was like a badge of honour to run the car on the worn out sections!

    Crazy!

It looked s:censored:t back in '96, and it doesn't look any better over 20 years later!

I like it. Not going to do that myself but if he wants to do that, great. It looks ridiculously cool and he made a Ferrari even less useful except for just driving it. It also takes another 348 off the street to make the rest more valuable and when the fad fades away like dancing beds on mini trucks, there will be parts on the shelf for you to buy for your 348.

I am fairly certain that the owner does not care what anyone's opinion is, good or bad, or else he wouldn't have done that to begin with.
