Hey all, i have a 1995 355 Berlinetta. The heat does not work. Air blows out but does not get hot. The AC works perfect. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks so much.

Is the "Stop" button in or out? It should be out as in "No Stop" :)

There is a pump up front that circulates the engine coolant up to the heater core. the pump maybe dead.
Or in my case, Ferrari of Atlanta bypassed the heater core to improve a/c performance
Another thing ive been meaning to fix

I had the same problem and ended up having to replace the motor that controls the climate control. If this is your issue, there is an equivalent Volvo part. I hope this helps.

Also had a similar problem, but in my case it was that I could not turn the heat off. As noted, it could be the motor on the water valve or the pump. But it could also be a problem with the HVAC ECU. It's fairly common for a chip that control the motor to fail so the valve stays in the last position it was in before the failure.

Search threads here...I contributed with the part numbers from a SAAB for the Bosch motor needed if that is the failure point. But you need to do some more diagnostics to confirm what is wrong. There are tips in the threads for how to diagnose. I confirmed the motor was bad on mine, and got a used Bosch motor control from a SAAB wrecking yard.
The other to possible failure items is the ECU, or the hot water valve itself, that the Bosch motor opens and closes.

Easy to replace, the hardest part of doing work in this area is getting the stiff "carpet" parts out and then getting them back in.
But I was still getting heat, this part was leaking coolant on the garage floor. It soaks everything when it leaks and is a pain to clean it all up.

That might be but every bad ECU I have encountered it stuck the heater valve wide open.

Just reading these threads to be informed about the system. No issues in my car.

Question. Is this correct? There are two electromechanical parts up there. One stepper motor controls the flap, the other is an aux. pump pictured above by enzojr that supplements the engine water pump.

Are both of these equally problematic? I read old posts about the stepper motor, not so much the pump.

Assuming the HVAC system on the Ferrari doesn't delay control signals to the motor... you might be able to hear/feel the motor running when you switch the heat on/off. If the electric motor is running, then the motor and the HVAC ECU is probably ok.

I think the valve has an indicator to show it is changing position... but like any valve, the indicator may have detached internally from the valve.

I seem to recall a VW Combi valve can be modified to fit. Not expensive at all. I bought one just in case mine broke (along with some computer chips for my HVAC ECU).

I don't know how warm the motor gets through heat conduction or by continued operation. Common sense applies.

    Cheers

That would be consistent with my experience. The replacement chips are dirt cheap. The trick is knowing how to unsolder the old chip and solder in the new one. They are surface mounted. Not really hard if you know the tricks.

Do you have the chip part numbers and a source for them?

Thanks. It's a pity the chips don't have a silk-screened horse on them and come in a yellow box but I'll just pay the $4.75 and live with the shame.
