Asking out of pure curiosity: What was your personal maximum speed in a Ferrari 348? I saw a video of some guys taking it up to 290 km/h which is a pretty daring thing to do in my opinion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGwUijzMKyw I took my 348tb to the german Autobahn the other day and just before reaching 230 km/h astonishingly effortless, the last bit of feeling secure in the car had vanished, so for me it must be at about 225.
My ts was rock steady but I never had a chance to go higher than 120 mph (only a short stretch of open highway). My recently acquired tb needs it's suspension tuned. At speeds above 90 mph, the car is very twitchy and floaty.
Probably about 100-105mph. Upon initially receiving the car, it had a bit of float and disconcerting instability at about 90, and at about 70 around tighter sweeping highway bends. A full chassis height/rake setup and alignment by John Tirrell cured that, and the 348 is now precise and planted at speed.
About 110 +/- with the top off and windows down. Too much wind and lift at that speed. Roof on, windows up next time. (*closed course, professional driver*)
Wow, looks like we found a winner :-D I felt like the suspension and steering were a little bit too "hectic" on a two lane road, maybe I'll give it another go on a three or four lane straight road some other time. Getting it to 250 / 155 would be nice, i guess.
I ran 150 indicated for ~10 minutes one time in a friend's car. It felt fantastic. Doubt I've had mine above 120 yet, and that was only for a short burst.
I've owned my 348ts for a year and a half. I've noticed that at higher speed it does in fact have a float to it. It actually feels better now since I've done spacers in the rear. It seems this is common of all 348 but still capable of the high speed and the right road? After all a Ferrari isn't meant for rough roads... I'm pretty sure my suspension still is al stock but is in very good shape! My LSD works as well!!!
160 with the needle bouncing above and below that a little and the rpm's screaming while chasing a McLaren.
The faster I go the faster the car wants to go. It is almost like the car has it foot on the accelerator. It is also rock steady. Quite a car
That's the way they are when the suspension is in good shape and set up well. Sounds like you have a nice example.
i got mine to 170 on the second Penang Bridge....well it maxed out thereabouts....will never do it again
I know her! She's the... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYxPgFUjDpA[/ame] The guys come to race her from miles around, But she'll give 'em a length, then she'll shut'em down. . Image Unavailable, Please Login
A lot less than the speedometer was indicating! - I've never known a speedometer over-read by so much! On a long straight motorway with 100mph showing on the sat-nav, the speedo reads @ 116mph in My 348. Doing the same test in My E46 BMW, at 100mph on the sat-nav, the speedo shows 101~102mph.
Not sure if this really happened or if I was dreaming but I seem to recall averaging 120mph all the way across the length of Kansas in a red 348 Challenge. 140 is very safe feeling in a 348.
On the last bit of autobahn "1" on the way to Nurburgring, was frequently flat out with occasional lifts for the odd bits of traffic for a good 30mins, with the roof down (covered). At that speed - absolutely everything got sucked out of the cabin. Had to stop and put my bags and stuff in the frunck. The paper with the directions on was the first thing to be lost so missed the exit. It wasn't too stable at that speed, but down at 140 it felt rock solid.
