It seems pretty basic but Id like so advice from those who have been there and done that... My tape deck doesn't seem to work, I put in a cassette and it spits it out. I can't access any radio stations either. I would love to be able to get an iPod integration cable but I don't think thats possible. What are my options? Is there someone out there that rebuilds tape decks? Id prefer to keep the factory deck in the car. Another option is a 360 deck that I have, does anyone know if there are iPod integration kits available for the 360 deck? thanks guys
I'm putting in all Focal speakers on stock locations without modifying anything so it can be reverted to stock if needed. I'll be leaving the factory head unit in its place and doing a Bluetooth and 3.5mm aux cable hookup direct to the amp that is a slim mount that will sit under the passenger seat. Everything will look stock but should sound significantly better. I don't listen to the stereo often but it would be nice to have better sound when you're stuck in traffic.
I put in the ferrari infotainment system and removed the stock deck and cd player. I got the backup cam as well which was nice. If I ever sell it I will give the new owner the option of choice. The new system has sat, nav, bluetooth, handsfreephone etc. Only downside is I did not like blue lights in stereo and green everywhere else so I changed everything to blue lights and it now all matches.
There's loads of threads here about patching in the wire that Becker Autosound sell or that can be found on Ebay but some only feature playback not charging too - the basic 360 unit is not compatible with Ipod control from the head
On the standard 355 stereo, the back light is orange. I thought i read something on here about being able to change it to green to match the rest of the dash lights no??
I turned on the stereo during the test drive in 2000, and once thereafter. I have owned the car for 15.5 years. It has a 300 Watt amp in the front, and a 10 disk changer. Don't know it either works anymore
It is really unclear and undefined on what radio was provided the FNA cars. Some had blank plates early on, then Sony cassette units were used followed by the Becker units. I recently sourced a Sony unit and they have become scarce and pricey. I do not believe there is anyway to change the light colors on it. I haven't installed it but it is a very old school, basic head unit. The Becker units were the latest ones installed and possibly that is the model being discussed that allows color changing.
Car had a custom stereo in it. Previous owner went through and removed it. We sourced a Becker unit for $600 and it was never wired up or turned on. Had a replica delete plate made and have a small amp and Bluetooth dongle behind the plate, so it looks like no radio but I stream everything from my phone. Mine is a 99 but has the sony xrfs20 or something like that and you can change the color amber or green with 6 cd sony changer.
Hear is the picture I believe it is the dspl button. Mine does not have the cd and says ferrari on it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Grant did that come with your car OEM? My understanding is that was an esrlier production OEM install than 99 If so then there really is no lineage as to what was installed OEM.
I got this in a box when I bought my F355 ? Does not have the face plate, and came in the Kenwood box which is currently installed. PO claimed this was the original unit ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
1997 factory AM/FM Cass & cd changer pictures and pictures of my HI-FI System owners manual. The color can be changed and the default color is amber so if the radio ever looses power you will need to know how to rest it to green if that is your preference. Bob I am the second owner and I was told it did. I did not however get the build sheet so you could be correct. I believe an fchatter out of vegas is original 99 owner he could tell you. My build date is also an early 99 so it is possible they switched. I know not the answer you or I was looking for but its the best I can do. Would like an original few owners to pipe up and tell us what they got so we could get a better idea.
Ferrari started using the Sony on 98 models and on the 99's until about April when they switched to Becker...
If anyone else is interested, I found that Focal 165KRXS are likely the best speakers you will be able to find for the doors of the 355 without having to modify/hack anything up. Based on measurements provided by threads I found on the forums and using the technical spec sheets from Focal, these shallow mount speakers will fit without bottoming out. These speakers should provide a huge improvement over stock, along with the tweeters that are provided in the kit. I'm going to be installing them soon along with a Focal amp with a Bluetooth and 3.5mm AUX adapter so the factory stereo remains in its position, which is necessary where I live to qualify for "collector car" insurance rates.
