Hey guys, quick question. I have a 06 F430 and just bought some new ADV1 wheels.

The question i have is that the wheels are going to be equipped with new aftermarket TPM Sensors. Do I have to take the car to a dealer with the new wheels installed or does the car automatically detect the new sensors?

    Thanks in advance

    Jon

can you install original sensor on aftermarket wheels?
i don't think it will detect new sensors w/out relearning.

I could but i was trying to go without tearing apart both sets of wheels to swap sensors.

I had the same dilemma on my scud. I believe you either have to have FERRARI sensors or ones made by BERU which tire installer places don't carry. I just decided it wasn't worth the risk to buy something that may not work or splurge for the Ferrari ones. I just ended up swapping them. Good luck. Hopefully you find a better solution.

Do 06's have sensors? I know my 05 430 didn't but they do from 07 on.

TPMS was optional until about MY08, when it became standard.

If your aftermarket sensors work with the OEM TPMS system, you can calibrate them yourself and do not need an SD3. They can be calibrated either way. The procedure for doing so is in the owners manual and uses the pressure calibration button. If you do not have an OM, download one from ferraridatabase.com.

Yea I would check. I almost got suckered into buying an aftermarket set when in fact my 05 430 didn't need them.

thanks for the help guys. To tell you the truth, i didnt even check to see if the car has sensors! If it does, i will just replace them with the stock ones. Thanks again

I have an 05 430 and replaced the sensors with stock parts. You can recalibrate to new sensors yourself. The owners manual has the procedure in it. Basically, you turn the key all the way on, hold the little hidden TPMS button down until the display says "cal" and then start the car and drive it for a few miles until pressures show up on the display (when you push one of the two little multifunction buttons to the left of the steering wheel).

I have 1 '07 F430. Yes, I calibrated the TPMS myself using the cal button under dash per the owners manual.

how about turning it off? I don't have them on my aftermarket wheels... and it's annoying on the dash. I check my tire pressure often anyway.

I just hope there is, but I don't think there is a way to do so.
I would turn that off as well

I believe this is what Terry was talking about, shutting the OEM TPMS system OFF

One of mine was bad (Nov 07 build 430) and I constantly saw the warning light on the dash. It drove me crazy.

I bought an aftermarket one from Tire Rack. Had it installed at very reputable local tire shop. Didn't work. Off to dealer for them to replace.

$456 total and the tech was kind enough to waive the $100 recalibration fee, so would have been 556. I'm good with math. Original place misplaced the box for improper sensor so I couldn't return it. So I'm in for close to 600 to replace a monitor!

I don't think you can calibrate factory units yourself. I inquired as to shutting down the TPMS system and the tech said it couldn't be done.

I'd bet if you took one apart that had a dead battery, you could find a matching battery at Batteries are Us, or on the Internet, that would make it new again. I did this on one of my C6's and it worked like a champ! Just have to cut throught the molded plastic then use a soldering gun to install it! Easy fix!

I will be installing after-market wheels within a couple of weeks on the scud. I got some OEM TMPS and will install them and hopefully they will work. I do not want to break down the scud OEM wheels, great track day set ; )

Thanks for the tip. I will definitely keep that in mind. Anyone else tried this successfully?

Someone could make some $$$ figuring out how to do this for Ferrari cars and then sell them!

I reviewed the manual and it shows a button under the dash. BUT I do not see it. I checked and there are NO buttons under the dash and this is for a scuderia (not sure if that matters vs a 430)

Has anyone had to recalibrate their TMPS in a scuderia ???
