Hi everybody. Would you guys know the best way to clean up the inside of a 360 Modena? I just picked up mine the other days and the headlights are pretty blurry. Is there an easy method to clean them up from the inside without removing half the car? Thank you for your input Fezz Phoenix, AZ
Its hazing from sun exposure. The polymer degrades from the UV light. Only way I've heard is to remove the lights, separate the lens from the headlight assembly.. polish it out and then reassemble.
Look at this under the DIY section at the top of the page. Alan http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/378220-360-open-light-surgery.html
Yes, the magnet works good, not perfect. I cleaned my headlights with the magnets, but you need heavy duty magnets. I ordered mine off Ebay of course. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I discussed this 2 weeks ago with the service manager at Ferrari Orange County as mine are becoming cloudy on the inside in the upper area. He said that there are only 2 effective solutions, one is to replace the lights for an incredible $2K plus per light or, two, talk to Premier Automotive the outstanding Ferrari body shop in this area. Well I talked to the owner at Premier who is a super helpful and capable person and his first response was "Don't ask me to do this unless you really, really, need it done!" He said that they have to remove each light and literally saw the front lens off before cleaning off the gunk on the inside of the glass and then glueing the two halves back together. He has to charge between $800 and $1000 per lamp and any slight slip means having to replace it. He believes that the cause is related to out gassing of the HID lights, [high intensity gas discharge]. I think that now mine don't look quite as bad as I thought!
Im sure the owner at premium is both helpful and capable, but there are a few things which bother me: -This has nothing to do with the HID / Xenon lights as it happens as much on the Halogen versions. -There is no need to Saw anything. The ''glass'' can be pryed out. Done it. Yes, of course, one have to be careful so that the tools used dont slip.
Did you pry the headlight assembly apart after removing it from the car or did you pry it apart while still installed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have done many of them, the lenses need to be separated from the housings and the insides need to be cleaned and polished carefully and resealed. Its the only way to get it properly cleaned. + on what netman said, the gasket is usually in poor shape and the tabs that hold it in place usually are ripped so its best to replace them.
