ok, I will be attending a drag racing in a local event about 20 days later. and No, I am not worried about my clutch. To some degree, I got to pay to play.

The mod is on a 360 modena, euro version. I want you to give me some more suggestions or correct what I have already did on the mods.

What I plan to do but not sure if I should (areo considerations? )
    1. remove the whole rear hatch
    2. removed front and rear bumper

    ===========================================
    What i have already done:
    1. removed passenger seat.
    2. removed side skirts
    3. removed rear grille
    4. removed both door cards
    5. removed hand brake calipers and pads
    6. removed pretty much all interior carpets
    7. fabricated and installed a set of titanium cat-back straight exhaust
    8. removed both headlights
    9. removed both side view mirrors
    10. michelin slick REAR tires, REAR ONLY with 19" CS wheel.
    11. CS TCU installed (should I make the PIS tighter than normal ?)
    12. rear Left and rear Right weight equalized.

    What I will do:
    1. remove the regular driver seat and install my CS driver seat. but im not sure if will fit, I might have to drill holes.
    2. remove all dash.
    3. install titanium CS wheel lugs

So what else can you think of to make my 1/4 mi faster?

Remove the battery. Put in small lithium battery. Remove the alternator if battery can be charged between runs.

My suggestion is buy a different car for this purpose. Ferrari's aren't built for drag racing.

I've ran mine in the 1/4, exactly as I drive it on the street.

Personally I would be embarrassed to strip it of body panels and interior parts. I really don't see the point of racing a car that looks like it was parted out.

Lightening the car while keeping it stock appearing or at least, a complete vehicle is a more worthy effort.

Sure, and ruin whatever compromised aero he has left. But it might work if he's willing to replace the stock 360 engine with the 360 RS version:

i have a CS, but would refrain from doing anything to it!!

so will taking off the front bumper areo change outweight the weight reduction?

    I am going to guess...yes.

Radio is heavy in the standard car too

What about putting the CS engine bonnet on the race car. Isn't it a lexan window in the CS? = ahh never mind I see you are going to remove it. I wonder if that will make it faster? Remember the shape spent 2,000 hours in the wind tunnel during development but then again it wasn't designed for drag racing. I hope there will be a good video for us guys to see.

    I'd....

    1. Replace the front stuff with CF/Composite stuff.
    Better aero and less weight.

    2. Ditch the rear bumper - it's a heavy old thing.

    3. Replace rear hatch with a lexan sheet - cut and painted to look like a std rear hatch.
Again this is needed to reduce drag and rear end lift.

Think the clutch engagement / wheel spin will be the biggest issues.

... and after all that against a two year old Camaro ZL-1 with an automatic transmission ... You end up with smoking clutch, the need to buy new tires, the expense of putting all the stuff you removed back on the car and the embarrassment of being smoked by a gal in a Camaro that is used to pick up her kids from day care.

What are the stakes? Seems like a lot of effort for a friday night drag session.

its an organized legal racing held at a local airport.

What at stake is about $5000.00. A local shop will sponsor me and if I win in the "RWD > 3.0 L" group, i'll get roughly US $5000.00.

The modena is fastest car I have that I want to do any mod.

Are you allowed to use power adders ?
If so two stage NOS will give you the best results

Will you be going against any American muscle cars ... Camaro, Mustang, Corvette, Viper?

I drag raced for almost 20 years (till I started buying non american cars..LOL).., and its hard to beat the way a solid axle car can launch. NA drag racing is about 60' times. With a turbo or nitrous car you can make it up on the big end of the track; but NA is all about the launch.

    Good luck...

    No, NOS not allowed.

I'll get race gas though, thought that will help.

    I am guessing no.
They held this drag race about half year ago and the best car is a 458 in this group.
I don't see any american muscle in my city, except a few 2.3L mustangs.

I used to be on a 1 km long straight in shanghai f1 circuit and the 458 can't keep up with my modified 360 challenge race car, which is weight as 1190 kg.

that's why I need to get this modena down on weight. the power train of challenge car I have has no mod, except full straight exhaust(no cat)

This biggest benefit in the 1/4 mile will be to get a set of drag wheels/tires. Those 19" CS wheels are actually VERY heavy, not to mention the 19" slicks. Opt for custom 17" wheels (if possible to clear the brakes) and maybe skinnies in the front.

You can shave quite a bit of time out of the box.

The aero will become a drag on the mph trap speed for sure. And probably become a major factor over 80mph.

I can't wait to see the "race prepped" version of the car when you are done!

But honestly, if you are in the > 3.0L RWD... you probably don't really have a chance. Plenty of v8/v10 cars out there that will easily beat the 360.

Good luck anyhow! should be interesting to see the time differences.

hm.... what about removing the rear brakes altogether? that's heavy as well.

the runway is more than enough to stop the car without hitting the brakes.

I'd rather bring up the horsepower and keep the body together, so if you win, you can look good doing it. You won't earn much respect if you win with just a rolling chassis & engine, anyone can do that, it's all about engineering it to get better 1/4 mile numbers, not just to disassemble for weight purposes. Also remember: safety is #1. Not a great idea to start removing things like bumpers, air bag sensors, brakes, etc. Just my $0.02.

Im not sure I would remove the brakes.... A set of wheels though (slicks and skinneys) would probably do wonders. Mickey Thompson ET streets or at least a good set of drag radials. would go a long way.

Are you doing anything to the engine? Tune, airbox, headers, etc?
