I currently have a manual 430 , is the Scud worth the extra $$$
Not sure - depends on what you are looking for... If you like to track your car, the Scud is certainly the faster machine. I have a manual 360 and a Scud, and preference would really depend on use and what tickles your senses, I think. Both your manual 430 and the Scud are special, maybe the scud more so... but would you enjoy it more? Personally, I would not sell a manual 430 unless you can time the peak of the market
I'm considering trading my 2006 F430 F1 for a Scud. Here's the thing though, I track my car about 10 times a year and while the Scud is faster on track I'm concerned about wear on the CCMs vs the steels on my car. I have upgraded fluids, lines and pads and I go through a couple sets a year but that still only costs me around £500 annually whereas if I had CCMs I'd need to replace the rotors annually at £10k a time. OP you didn't say how you use your car but IMHO if you intend to track it then do consider these costs - or switch the CCMs for an uprated steel system - yes I know it's actually an iron/molybdenum alloy and not steel To your original question though - Scud every time. The gearbox, focus and Schumacher connection makes it a very special car.
Biased, but yes. The problem with the Scud is that there's really nowhere to go from there. Perfect balance of rawness and performance. It's surprisingly very comfortable IMO as well.
The Scud is an incredible machine, and hold their value just as well. You could jump into a Scud and be perfectly happy, or make some modifications to your current F430 and dial it in to your driving style. Really depends on what you're using the car for IMO.
This is my biggest issue with owning a scud. Seems like it's the end of the road..everything else feels like too big of a compromise in one way or another.
If the gap between my 328 and the scud will ever decrease, I will definitely trade up. The 328 has gone up considerably, but the scud even more.... :-(
There was a Scud v gated 430 thread last year with this question. Would be interesting for you to read I think. Lots of discussion.
Actually my 430 makes quite a bit more power than a scud BUT I would take a scud in a second. Thinking about getting one now.
+1. The end of the road for sure. The irony is that I wish I hadn't bought my scud when I did so I get to own and try more ferraris. Owning a scud, you don't care about trying or owning anything else. What a great machine!!
Scud all the way. I came from a 360 manual, and am a manual fanatic. I passed over a 430 manual when they were more depressed in price, and ponied up for the scud. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
I think it's a tough choice. If your 430 was an F1, it'd be an easy choice of the Scuderia. But the manual 430 is pretty rare, too, and could hold its value almost as well as a Scud. Only you can decide if driving the manual is more fun. If you want your 430 to be more raw, you could always replace the bushings and sway bars. A Scuderia is much more than that, of course, but the gated manual is pretty special in its own right.
Scud over F430 6MT 10 out of 10 times. Sound + interior + F1 Superfast 2 = ultimate Ferrari experience for the money.
Totally different cars. When I got my Scud the plan was to sell the 430mt(why have 2 430s their so similar? That was my though.) Didn't work in practice, they are not similar in the way they drive, feel, or how I use each. I couldn't sell either, now I am looking to build a bigger garage. Dam Ferrari's are running my life, just like a bad bad woman you can't stop seeing. My only saving grace is I turn down any offer to drive the 488 or Speciale, because I know where that goes...
Why would you think a mass production of F430 over a Scud. there only 1600 build world wide maybe alot less now since 2008, there in line as a collector car like the Enzo , CS , Speciale 458, it a Michael Schumacher design ,
I made the jump from a 430 (F1) to a 16M and it's been amazing... you won't regret the jump. The Scud is somewhat less comfortable than the F430... but after a while, you won't care. Shifting, sound, brakes... amazing.
A F430 is also 100% Ferrari, also a great car, both are great. IMO a Scuderia is not per se the "better" car, depending on personal expectations, these two cars are different.
