Goosed it, spun around and ended up going backwards, or back end broke loose and went backwards, my guess.

Hope its any easy fix.

 

I see coolant leaking in first photo. Damage is probably more than superficial. Unfortunate.

ahahah my favourite surf shop (Frog House) when I'm in town (NB)...have to say the parking lot access is indeed sketchy! People drive really fast there.

If he wasn't aiming at the parking lot and just going straight, then he's clearly an idiot as PCH is 4 lanes there!!!

 

It'll be interesting to find out the true story! My gut impression is swerved and lost the rear, butt swung out on passenger side and she went butt first into the surf shop.

Sad but shouldn't have happened.

Looks like he got lucky with that driveway right there. That tow truck driver is going to do some damage by the looks of it though.

I guessing you're right. It was a "hey watch this" moment that went wrong.

 

Only just behind the "hold my beer and watch this" moments we see all the time.

 

Probably swerved to avoid a deer. Nothing at all to do with the driver or the speed...

this is in my backyard.. no idea what happened, not even gonna guess. But I can say, the CS is going on 13 years old... when I get in mine after blasting my AWD R8 GT, the CS seems so touchy/twitchy!! 13 year old technology... etc. Car is RAW as they come, im sure the traction control is ancient compared to todays modern rockets...

I can Easily see how this could happen, even if not in full HOT DOG mode.. Just my .02

This looks like Newport Beach just before you cross over into Huntington Beach. I used to live nearby and rode by bike up that stretch daily.

Too bad but probably lots of great parts available if they decide not to repair it.
