Absolutely! Adds some color accents to the all-black look. Change out the calipers or re-color them? I like the look for sure. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Looking nice. It definitely make it pop. I changed mine to yellow months after I purchased the car a while back. Here's a photo, and this is photo is before the makeover. The 360 looks different now. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Please shed some more light about this matter. Did all of you buy a new set or paint the current ones? How did you add the Ferrari-text? I have black calipers and wish that they were yellow or red. What to do?
To do it properly. Steps below. 1. Prep the caliper by making the surface smooth. Use sandpaper and such. 2. Primer and yellow (or red) paint solution. 3. Place a custom made Ferrari decal. MAKE sure it's the proper size like the original unless you have other preference which is fine as well. 4. Spray clear coat. Viola! Here's a closer shot. You can also buy genuine Ferrari colored calipers for several thousand $ but that's none of my business. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Took them off and had them repainted depends on the color of the car I like the yellow on your car car looks great...what does it look like now ?
Thank you. It looks completely different car and more aggressive now while keeping the delicious curves of the 360. I'll post when I'm certain that the makeover is complete. I'm still undecided with what kind of wing.
The cost to refinish the calipers on the car like in the pictures was $550. Cleaned, all pads and pins were removed, sanded, sealed white, applied yellow base coat, applied stencils sprayed Ferrari logo in rossa red, and clear coated. The advantage to this way was not having to bleed the brakes and 1 day turn around. Nice work! I wish I could find a local shop that could do such a quality job for me. So hard to find someone really capable of this kind of thing.. To do it right with no issues. :/ I've been thinking about trying to find a set of "cores" to have shipped off and redone in Yellow then just swapped out for my black calipers. Anybody got a set around? Maybe trade for my black ones and cash?
Try visiting Yelp.com. Then search for "wheel repair" in your area and choose the best reviewed one. Most of the companies that does wheel repair does caliper paint as well.
Mine are red on red, I think yellow on red might look a bit better... I already have yellow tire air caps and yellow central hub on the rim so with yellow calipers, it might be a bit too much tho', so I'm leaving mine red Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the pics and instructions. So about the stencil, where did you get that for the painter? And how heat resistent the paint has to be? If the car is in normal road use and not tracked like mine.
I should have mentioned my car is black... have red calipers now... I think yellow will really make them pop
Any vinyl shop or sign company SignARama is a national chain. Give them the outside dimensions of the lettering and a pic they will get you covered. Tell them to cut it in paint mask. Paint holds up much better in my opinion. Before the stencils were so easy to get we tried stickers and clearing over them on my valve covers on my saleen and they started to bubble under the clear. The paint holds up so much better to the heat. We do my air cooled motors on my custom bikes all the time I will follow up with a pic. Good luck hope this info helps.
Bagger done in 2008 Chopper done in 2010 It still looks like day one and trust me they are defiantly ridden. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Looks like my car. Mine are red also, and I wouldn't change it to yellow, even though it would definitely pop more...but then also walks the thin line on "ricey ". In person, red pops enough.
OEM Colors were PPG 75250 (red/Rosso Corsa), 84028 (yellow), and 36520 (aluminum). OEM Ferrari script was black on all colors except those with black calipers, which had white script. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My local shop does fantastic work and i'm here in El Paso , TX . They are big into the custom paint , widebody import scene but they work on all vehicles . They masked off all parts that didn't need paint as removal of items is not needed . They did a base coat , sprayed red , added decals I provided off ebay , clear coated and handed to them to me in 2 days for $150.00 .
Yellow on red is the ticket. It pops and goes with the SF shield. I also want to do this but will try and get a new set so I can swap them back and not foul up my build sheet. All my mods are reversible. Here are great example of SF yellow on red. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Previous owner had mine painted from silver to yellow. He had the good taste to match the pale yellow to the shields and caps. I really like it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice! I found a shade of high temp engine paint called "Daytona Yellow" by Duplicolor I think. It's pretty light. I've used it on my Miata brakes. Looks great against the Emerald Mica paint. I also used white on the caliper bracket bars for an awesome Lotus livery effect.
