Hi all. I've got the usual cracked headers on my spider, and would prefer to fit aftermarket headers. I've been told the CEL will come on with aftermarket? Can anyone with aftermarket headers shed any light on this for me? I'm an auto elec, and I assume there will be an issue because of the lack of the precats in the manifold. I've seen Fabspeed O2 extenders with cats, on their website, but they also say it REDUCES the chance of a CEL coming on. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the Capisto manifolds on mine, it can throw a code but it is a rare thing. Best to let the engine warm up well before setting off as the lamda sensors get hot and you dont get part burnt fuel on then, setting off the codes
Works pretty well for me- never get codes after it gets hot or on a high speed run.

No light on my TS headers. Strange how some with headers costing 2-3x more throw codes.

Most of the time the CEL will be on, I used mini cat spacers and that solved the issue, also the 360 (I assume the 430 is similar) has 6 cats, two of them inside the headers and two more pairs in the main cats, the 02 sensors are located before the last pair and biggest catalytic component (one per side obviously), when I had replaced my cats with high flow cats the mechanic measured the 02 readings without the mini cats spacers (and the 02 sensors installed AFTER the cat like a Euro version) and he said the readings were pretty low, it didn't throw a CEL, he installed the mini cats spacers just to be safe.
So basically the aftermarket cats perform a better scrubbing function than the first two pairs of cats.

Gezim, I just shot you over a PM but will explain here as well! It's honestly a 50/50 shot with these cars that they will throw a CEL. Some guys will swap headers, fit a set of O2 spacers to help minimize the occurrence and never ever see a light. Other cars will throw a light right on start-up. Once you remove those pre-cats in the headers, they become sensitive.
There is always the option of an ECU tune to get rid of the CEL if the spacers don't work and to optimize the power band for the newly added headers - but then you run into emissions issues because it turns the catalyst monitors off.

Thanks everyone for your valuable input, very much appreciated. I've decided to go for the Fabspeed headers and the ECU tune. As we don't have emission problems here, t won't be an issue, and the tune will both, stop the CEL coming on and increase HP. I'll post progressive installation and results.

I have headers and 02 extenders didn't help. I get a CEL on every drive, but only if I shift at redline.

Just to add one more data point, added Fabsoeed headers and sport cats, got the 0420/0430 codes every drive.

Went back and added the O2 extenders, haven't seen one since.
