I've got a 2004 360 Spider with 18K that could use brakes. Anyone had a bad experience having the rotors turned once rather that replaced.

I did my brakes at 18K with turned rotors. Works fine.

It depends on how far in spec they are. Turning rotors is fine to a point, it's just a simple disc brake system, nothing special at all. Nothing. In fact it's really not that great. That being said, I just replaced all 4 rotors for under $400, so if turning rotors isn't an option, replacing isn't that big of a deal.

Where did you get four rotors for $400.00? OEM?

Yes I would like to know too. I saw 2 rotors OEM on ebay for $900. No one would turn rotors if they were only $100 each.

The problem with the rotors are that they are drilled and no one likes or will turn/machine drilled rotors.

Oops I was looking at 430 rotors. Seems they are way more expensive.

I will be having a go too. They are just cast iron, the holes make no difference.

I've never had a problem with turned rotors on my 360. That said, once I wore out my fronts, I went with StopTech replacements at around $1050 for the pair. They are better than stock (big surprise), as they are the "floating" type. The rears are still good and were turned with the last pad replacement. They probably will need replacement next time around, and I'll go with StopTechs again (car uses same rotors front and rear).

No reason you cannot machine drilled discs

It also depends on whether the shop has their machine in spec. Most don't consistently tune their machines...
