Does anyone besides R-Tuned make the engine bay side panels in carbon fiber for the 360 Modena? Only ones I have been able to find are original CS ones or R-Tuned sold through Vivid and Exotic. 4k is just too much for used CS panels and I'd like to get more info on the R-Tuned panels before I buy them. If anyone has the R-Tuned panels, any input would be appreciated.
There were some used Carbonio which has a better quality for sale on eBay not long ago for about $800/$900.
I have purchased all my carbon fiber parts from Parts3000 in Bulgaria. They really make some nice parts, and the price is MUCH cheaper.
The only R-Tuned stuff I have seen for our cars is all fiberglass with a single outer layer of carbon fiber on it for looks. Be careful out there because any "carbon fiber" part that has fiberglass is fake. With all that out of the way. I got some Tubi Style parts for my engine a few years ago that are awesome. I dont think they make the stuff anymore but if you can find any I can vouch for the quality.
That's what I am afraid of on the R-Tuned stuff. Yea, I missed out on a 4 pc Tubi set for $800....still kicking myself for not jumping on that one!
I got my rear diffuser from Captglen who is a sponsor here. https://www.exoticcargear.com/vehicle/ferrari/360/page/4/
I talked to Richard and he said that the panels are dry carbon and not an overlay. Said only the smaller items in the interior have the fiberglas backing due to the mounting.... Got a line on use CS panels for 2k for the set, so the quest continues.....
R-Tuned I have the engine bay panels. They fit just fine and look fine. I'd say it's one of the better made parts. Parts3000 Not the engine bay panels. I had... - bumpers from them / fiberglass with CF top layer / Cheap but fitting was not perfect. - air vent rings / CF / fitted well.
Richard is a liar then. His parts are not carbon fibre/fiber, any of them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
In a follow up email, I was told that R-Tuned uses dry carbon in a vacuum process with an ultra thin net-type fiberglass component for additional strength. This is not the same component that other manufactures are using which is similar to the stranded fiberglass mat but it is not carbon through and through as this would double the price of most components. So, my quest continues..... 1,200 for new composite panels including hinge cover or 2,000 for used original Ferrari panels Thoughts.....
RTuned From the outside they look totally cool. I could not give a monkey's bum if the back was 'hello kitty pink' (ok that might be too much). I could not justify 3k (typical ebay prices) for 2nd hand OEM ones.
I agree, and after discussing the manufacturing method and seeing your pics, I feel that those are the best options to the factory panels. Now, are the carbon through and through. Yes and no. Fiberglass is being used as a support to the carbon fiber rather than the carbon fiber being overlaid onto a fiberglass panel and I'm okay with that. Now, I've been told that the used OEM panels have light scratches. Given the "Ferrari" mentality, those could be so light that they can only been seen with an electron microscope or they could be scratched down to the carbon....pics will tell. If he deals with me and gets closer to the price for the R-Tuned ones, it will be harder to make a decision. Right now, dollar for dollar...I'm leaning towards R-Tuned.
Their engine bay louvers are a complete joke and are not small. Glad they were honest about this. You should not be fine with that. Carbon fiber doesn't need support once it is manufactured correctly which includes an understanding of tooling. This is an investment but yields a part that is lighter than metal and strong. It is not just for looks. You can buff scratches out. Post pictures when you get them. My .02 would be to stay away from fiberglass backed "carbon fiber".
just bought a rear Challenge grill from Super Tweaks for about $820 (repo of course). But I'm sure it's the same one selling on e-bay for around $1400. They have the engine panels in carbon fiber too. About $1300. Might be worth asking them about the parts and their methods.
...every time I really consider getting these for my spider (already have airbox/coolant tank covers in carbon) I think the money can be better spent on Scuding swiss LED tail lights... Full carbon bay would sure look cool though.
Same here. If only it wasn't for the fact that the engine bay is on full display... I love looking at the engines in these cars as much as the car itself.
Scud LED lights....check After our local C&C event this morning, my car is begging for the carbon panels.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Had one the same as yours, just didn't do it for me. Sold it off to someone who could appreciate it more than I! Might try the plain one or I'll just have mine powered coated later this year when I do the belts.
