360 Styling Cues in 2018 BMW 8 Series Concept?

    Motor Trend this month has some nice pictures of the 2018 BMW 8 Series Concept car. Here is a link to their on-line photos:

    Is it just me, or do you also see many styling cues from the 360? I confess I don't have the best eye for such things, but I seem to notice a number of similarities. The 8 Series is a lovely car, but I still think the 360 looks even better!

    I kind of think it's more akin to the 430. More edges and creases. The 360 is smoother and why I like it the best.

    Put the crack pipe down, it looks nothing like a 360.

    gotta be honest, from that one ¾ angle shot I'm betting a lot of folks would mistake it for a Corvette.

    The 360 has no center opening in the front for cooling (of course because it's mid engined) and that really changes the analogies IMO.

    Fair enough. For me, if you look at a side profile, the wheel location in the body, the hips over the rear wheels, the roof line and window line, and the concave detail running along the body (which I suspect may be gone in the production 8 Series) all looked similar to the 360. But no one else seems to see this, so I'll accept that I am mistaken. Thanks!

    I thought DB9. I guess it is different enough to be unique since we've all seen a bit of everything :D. Quite like it though.

    Yes very DB9ish. Nothing like a 360 or any Ferrari for that matter. Handsome car though.

    Another vote for Corvette.

    Based in the picture posted in this thread at least, if you hadn't told me what it was, I would have bet it was a very slightly modified C6.
