    I'm between two OBD Scanners

    1. Actron CP9190 or
    2. Equus 3140 -

do you recommend any of these for the 360 or is there something better?

I bought an Equus Innova 3130c a few days ago. I bought it to clear a P0432 code that came up on my 360 after the installation of Fabspeed headers (and no other mods). There are other threads about getting CELs after installing aftermarket exhaust components. But there are also lots of threads about bad things that can happen to your engine because of the OEM headers. I thought the potential engine problems were too serious to risk. Anyway, the Innova unit wouldn’t let me continue until I had entered the car data, and Ferrari was not one of the available choices, so I couldn’t continue. I returned it to the store.

The technician who installed my headers has an earlier Innova model, a 31003. It also does not recognize Ferrari, but it does allow the user to skip the step in which the car data are entered, and that is how we could read the fault code.

I called Innova tech support, but the guy who advised me was useless. He had me e-mail the VIN number and engine size of the car, as if that had anything to do with the absence of Ferrari from the database. He hasn’t gotten back to me yet. I then called the tech support at Actron, and got a guy who seemed to know something. He said that Ferrari, Lamborghini, and some other exotic car makers don’t release data to the aftermarket, so that you have to go to a shop. He also said that releasing these data is required by law, and the makers who refuse to do so have to pay a per-car fine, which of course becomes part of your purchase price.

If anyone has recently bought an OBDII scanner that works, I would like to know which one it is.

I have the Kiwi II wifi and got it set up with dashcommand on my iphone. Had to troubleshoot, but it works. Also gives data acquisition information from the OBD sensors, not just codes. Let me know if you want to know anything specific about the setup.

Thanks. I looked at this on the Internet; it is a different approach. I may follow up on it, but for now I'm looking for a conventional scanner that works.

I have an Actron that I bought about 2 or 3 years ago. It works fine with my 360. It doesn't have Ferrari specific info, but I can put it n a generic OBD II mode. That allowed me to at least see and clear generic P level codes. It also let me see the emissions drive cycle tests to see which ones had passed after clearing a code.

I'm very happy with it... I think I bought it at Advance Auto for around $100 or so...

I have the Equus 3160 and it works great. It also does ABS and SRS for some makes, and has the added advantage that you can plot your sensor data (O2, throttle position, temps) and other operating data (timing) on your laptop. It was $200 on Amazon.
