For those interested, starting a new thread on the process of converting my 360 Spider to " as close " to Challenge Stradale specifications. Obviously the conversion will never be a true CS, but as close as possible within realistic parameters.

I've decided to call my project the " Black Widow " .... black, bulbous rear end, red markings and mean !

Having recently purchased a salvaged titled CS, I will have the benefit of an intact donor car for the build, which should hopefully allow for the conversion to be completed within 30 days.

For those wondering about the weight difference between the 360 Spider and the 360 CS, I will try to compensate power to weight ratio with some lightening of creature comforts and increase horsepower with ECU tuning from Veloce Performance ( http://www.veloceperformance.com ).

    Stay tuned !

What is the story of the salvage car? What are you going to do with it after ripping the parts off of it?

The salvaged car was previously owned by Tim Durham and at one point in it's history was involved in an accident. WIth the exception of a mediocre re-spray and a few missing parts the car is quite solid with a perfect CS interior. It was experiencing a misfire due to a burnt coil which has been replaced and the car runs very strong. To attempt and restore this particular CS would not make economic sense as it would always have a " salvaged title ". We will be building a full size simulator with the extra body shell and parts .... we will do our best not to rip parts off.

Someone already did this project with a bianco project. The results are amazing and that spider looks insane. I have to look for that thread.
Good luck with the project! It will be awesome !

Good luck on your project. I agree with your strategy ... doesn't make economic sense to rebuild a salvage title car; you'll never get back what you put into it.

I'll be clicking on this thread for updates!

I believe that conversion was cosmetic only.

Correct, I don't recall ever reading a conversion with a donor car.

There was a red one done about 4-5 years ago. Once again cosmetics only. All the C/F (inside and out), stripe, challenge grills, diffusers, etc. I don't believe any engine work?

You should read Trev 6speed conversion. He used a CS as a donor. The only thing is that his car is not a spider.

Looking forward to it as well. I always wondered why Ferrari didn't make a CS Spider. I suppose the market didn't demand one at the time. Things are different now with the 16M. Its also much much more fun to see these projects in motion by individual enthusiasts!

I've considered doing that myself. I love the look of my CS but would also like a convertible. Buying an older spider and doing a cosmetic conversion would be cool.

It seems so weird the fate this 360CS will have. It dodged the crusher once and was rebuilt, put into a large car collection, only to be taken apart anyway. All within about 5,800 miles. Such a short life for it. :(

Your project should be cool though. I understand the cosmetic part, but which engine are you going to use? What will you do with the extra?

If your referring to the Meridian CS, it was as close one could get (IMO). The car has CS brakes, body work, engine work, suspension work etc....

These are the only shots I could find of the car.

At this point I've decided to use the CS engine matched to the 6 speed manual from the Spider. Upon completion of the " black widow " and simulator project I will decide on extras.
