I have an Actron CP9575 which has worked out for me. It shows the code but also gives a text explanation. I think I got it at AutoZone.

An OBDII reader will only give you the CEL, but with a good one you can read the sensor outputs (like O2 etc) and maybe get a clue as to what is causing the slow-down light.

I have the Innova 3160 (also does ABS and SRS), which plots the sensors outputs on the screen, and you can also download them to your laptop. I got mine at Amazon but Car Quest, Auto Zone etc sell them too

    +1 for the Innova 3130 or 3160

Here is my rundown from a previous post: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/394224-obd-2-reader.html
Autel makes some full featured products. By my comparison, it looks like the Autel AL519 is the way to go for that brand (right now).

    Autel AL519:
    List $160
    Amazon: $90

Innova 3130: (3130,3140,3160 all graph, the 3150 does not)
    Retail: $350
    Amazon: $169

    Innova 3160:
    Retail: $459
    Amazon: $179

If I was to buy a new one today, I would likely get the Autel, assuming it works as well as the Innova 3130 which has been a priceless tool in my automotive tool box.

Comparison Chart: *A little outdated, only has the AL510

I also bought the ultra gauge. It's pretty cool for $60. Used it in the F430 and on my new land missile.

Video of it in action on my bike:

*warning: never ride a BMW S1000RR, your 430, Scud, Itialia, Enzo... ...will seem s.l.o.w., almost like its broken.
