Having dropped stuff into the engine bay of her F430 on more than one occasion, my wife presented me today with the gift shown below for my birthday.

PS it's a gag (though it is a real grabber). But the price would be about right if it came with a horse on the top of the handle. :)

Yeah, but you would not have wanted to be around when I dropped the dipstick in the engine bay last spring. "Dipstick? You're a dipsxxt," said she.

I think if it had the prancing horse on it, it would cost more like $249!

Nice gift for sure. You should drop the hint for a borescope for Christmas. My experience has taught me that locating the position of the aforesaid stuff is generally more difficult than the retrieval!

+1; I have three video borescopes ;). The one with a removable wireless video screen (4") is my fav. So the video screen can stay at orientation XYZ, while I manipulate the scope. Mine have magnetic fittings, so they can retrieve as well.

Trent: Which specific model borescopes do you own? Which is the one make/model you recommend? What are the shortcomings of the others, compared to the recommended one? (can you tell I'm in the market for a borescope????) Thanks!

This really is a great tool, I actually bought one that has a magnet portion along with the claws - so I can retrieve dropped nuts/bolts while I am retrieving dropped nuts/bolts (any one remember XIBIT on Pimp My Ride?)
