Has anyone tried the new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2? I am on regular trofeo today but will need to buy a new set pretty soon. Should I go with Pirelli Trofeo R och the new Michelin PSC2?
Hi Johan I did some trackdays with the pzero trofeo r in std size and they are doing well but I would like to fit larger tyres and will maybe try some psc2.
I ordered mines (MPSC2) for my scud, but I've to wait some weeks before my Pirelli are worn out. My dealer said there are very limited quantity in Europe...
Just bought a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. 245/35-19 and 285/35-19 will be interesting too see how they compare to the Trofeo and Trofeo R
Since I am in Sweden i use European tire sites. I bought mine from a German company called Reifen online günstig kaufen @ ReifenDirekt.de: Winterreifen, Sommerreifen, Pkw-Reifen und Reifenhandel
For me, the other problem is most 235's say a 8" wide front... scud has that, but not the other 360/430s... although I'm running a 235 RE-11 with no poor results. Yeah, all I see in the sizes are the regular PSC.
These are the dimensions we will see in Europe this year. Not sure if they are all released yet. 225/40/18 235/40/18 245/40/18 235/40/19 235/35/19 245/35/19 255/35/19 285/35/19 285/30/18 295/30/18 265/30/19 295/30/19 305/30/19 325/30/19 245/35/20 295/30/20 345/30/20 315/25/20 325/30/20 275/35/19 265/35/20 325/30/21 http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/Michelin-Pilot-Sport-Cup-2-Launched.htm
Hi Guys, I just wanna ask if I still need to put spacers if I get 305/30/19 (stock wheels) for the rear on my Scuderia? Planning to get Trofeo R or Corsa System..
Now I know... The Pirelli Trofeo/Trofeo R is on an average 1,5-2 sec faster on a 1 minute track than the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 on my 430 Scuderia, that is a big difference. I am sure Michelin is better in the wet but for track days I will move back to Pirelli Trofeo. Michelin also has a much higher tendency to overheat, didn't like the characteristics of the Cup 2 at all...
I am not exactly sure what you mean by semi slick. But over here they are called R-tires. Track day rubber that you are allowed to drive on the street.
Basically tires suitable for the track and road that have few, very shallow treads. Semi-slicks are halfway between a road tire and slick tires. From pics I've seen on Google, it looks like that's what Trofeos are -- not something you'd want to drive on in a rainstorm!
How do you guys feel about the Trofeo R's on the street. Located in Socal so car never see's any rain but Im worried they may be a slight overkill? I have Perrilli Corsas on now and the grip is terrible looking for a huge improvement over these.
Do a search here...Scud tires have been covered many times. YOu will hear MPSS, RE-11, Trofeo and on....all better than Corsa's. I can say firsthand that MPSS and RE-11 are, others' can talk to Trofeo and on.
Do you use your scud often? Because me I use it maybe 2x a month max... so I went with Trofeo Rs and also for better grip of course. If you want better grip then go with Trofeos, best tires for the scud IMHO...
It's interesting to me that people think the Corsa's have poor grip. I've had them on two cars so far and think they're extremely grippy. I haven't tried the others though, so maybe this is a matter of "it's all relative."
I run the Michelin Pilot Super Sports for both track and street use and they are AWESOME for a true street tire. The PSS is a much better handling tire, laterally, than the PS2 by the way. In this thread, some are comparing R-compound tires to true street tires(non-R) tires which is really apples to oranges. I can get 20k miles out of my PSS's. I highly doubt that the same could be said for an R-compound.
