I have installed new headers less the precats and the car is now way too loud. I am also running a Stock Ferrari CS Exhaust,

I am thinking of keeping the headers with no precats but going back to a stock muffler.

    Has anyone done this?

    Stock muffler, aftermarket headers?

    How does it sound?

That's what I have on my car - not too loud - and I think it is the Euro set up...

Much louder with no pre cats

    It was simply loud before

    Now it's ear splitting

You can hear the car for miles

Yes, I'm running a 430 without precats, fabspeed headers to the stock 430 mufflers. This is a personal choice, but I love it loud. I have the valves open so very little exhaust goes through the muffler. I would not call it ear shattering, but definitely loud. No one has ever complained and as I rarely listen to the radio or talk on the phone in that car, it's perfect for me.
If I were going to use the car more like a regular car I would use header wrap to quite her down, I would not go back to precats as it does reduce overall engine life.

Removing those pre-cats does make a HUGE difference in sound, even with the stock muffler.

I remember reading a post here, a 360 had the precats cut out, and welded
the stock header back together. He said his gas mileage dropped by 50%,
    but it sounded great.
Not concerned about gas cost here.....but what was eyebrow raising was the
large drop in mileage seemed to indicate that tuning was in order to
accommodate the vastly different gas flow from stock now gutted pre cats.

So back to aftermarket headers, any of them would do the same thing,
change flow dramatically, how is that extra flow dealt with by the
    computer/fuel metering ?

I have factory header with pre-cat removed. Main cat is still there, passes smog no CEL. With Tubi NGCT muffler. Super damn loud, been thinking about going back to stock exhaust, but so much more weight added.

Good to hear, thinking about doing this since I can pick up some used stock
headers cheap to play with. This also solves the precat possibly disintegrating
and getting sucked into the motor. Did you experience the gas mileage change ?

A nice compromise might be to pick up a new CS racing exhaust on Ebay, around $2K,
get a valve controller, $375, and have a variable level exhaust. Pretty light too.
I am thinking about going that route myself, I have a regular Tubi right now.
Should be able to get decent $$$ for the NGT.

I actually wanted to trade someone for my ngct with a regular tubi

No idea on the gas mileage never cared on the Ferrari but do care on the Prius.

I have Fabspeed headers w/o precats, stock cats, and stock muffler, and I just added the CS exhaust. My earlier setup was similar in sound (only a little louder) to my new setup from idle to 4k, or above if you're not hard on the throttle to where it opens the valves. Quite a bit louder with the valves open.

I just picked up my 430 with Capristo headers (& mounts) today. It's a little louder, for sure, but not a lot.

Where the headers are more noticeable is when I drop it down to third on the freeway and let 'er rip. Wow! The better flow really helps launch it down the road.
