With such active interest in the Scuderia or Ford GT post, I thought it would be interesting to put up a poll. Scuderia? or Ford GT?
There isn't a huge cost differential. In fact, they are almost the same money these days with the Ford GT possibly being a little more expensive. I think it's a good comparison as I have wondered which I would buy first. I like the Ford GT but as a collector that means you wouldn't want to drive it much whereas the Scud is something that could be driven.
Really is a hard comparison, very different cars. For myself to compliment the GT I would love to find another Seal Grey CGT, Never should've sold that one. Then my garage would be complete, most of the newer cars just don't excite me.
The only GT that is anywhere near 280K is a low mile Heritage car, otherwise they can be had for 200-230K unless you have to have an MSO car or one with less than 5K miles.
The average asking price for a GT on AutoTrader is $350,000. The markets for these cars are not even close.

Not sure if you're agreeing with me or disagreeing me. Regardless, like I said, the AVERAGE asking price on GTs on AutoTrader is $350k. Of course, there are GTs being offered for both more and less than that amount.
As a longtime fan and potential buyer of a GT, I've been flabbergasted by the current asking prices. MaranelloDave, what buys a < 2k miles car nowadays? They are cool cars, but the relatively high production numbers of the GT has me thinking these prices are suspect - there are just too many cars out there for these prices to make sense - at least this early in its life. Low mileage cars were asking $125-$150k just 1 or 2 years ago. My buddy nearly talked his way into a 2005 with 4k miles for $100k cash in 2011, but the seller decided to hold out for closer to his $115k asking price and it finally sold (for who knows what) 7 months later. That being said, I voted Scud - better driver and more soul. Not as nice to look at, but I don't buy cars to look at them.
If I can only have one, it's the scud. But, I would love to own both one day. GT prices too high right now for me to even consider. You could almost buy 2 scuds for the price of a lot of the GTs.
Yeah, the prices don't make sense to me either but, then again, spending more than $100k for a car doesn't really make sense either when you can buy a "good" car for half that much. The prices are about emotions and emotions are high for the GT!
Yikes. There is absolutely nothing correct about that. You absolutely could not touch a low mile (or really anything short of wrecked) GT anywhere near $125k two years ago and there is zero chance a buddy of yours almost bought a 4k mile car for $100k in 2011. You can easily go back and look at wholesale auction data from 2012 and see them trading for $160-180k WHOLESALE. Hard data points, not "my buddy almost..." There is no question that the cars have gone up a significant amount, especially in the last 12 months, but the prices you mention here are fantasy.
at the other end of the scale............ 2006 Ford GT Coupe for sale by CNC-MOTORS.COM in Ontario,CA 91761 | duPont REGISTRY
The Ford GT may be the only modern car made in the last 10 years that has appreciated in value. I can't think of any others, though feel there "must be" at least a few more. While many Ferraris made in that time period (360s, 430s, Scuderias, Challenge Stradales, etc.) have somewhat held against much depreciation, they have depreciated at least some from original selling price.
it's power is also like getting punched in the face by Mike Tyson in his prime. Just brutal, raw and incredible. A friend has a red/white striped one here, it honestly scares me.... Kevin
