Hello Fchatters! I'm back on Fchat, I've missed all of this!
So.. I just noticed that my main key is ruined.
I mean scratches - it really does NOT look good! :(
The second key is almost new, but I won't use it as long as it's.. New!
Does anyone ever tried to REVITALIZE it?
How do you disassemble it? Which paint would you use? Is there any chance to ruin it? What am I up against? I hope I'm not missing something.
    Thanks in advance for help:

PS: If it is useful, I can take some pics to show off.

As long as I care about small things and we are on the F430 section.. What's the problem?

I seem to remember someone in a thread painted their key yellow to match the car . It looked great. Good luck

I painted my 360 key with red enamel but after a while it is chipped all over and looks worse than before. I think the only way is to have it powder coated which I may do with mine.

Post some pictures. I would imagine the F430 keys are solid colored plastic all the way through, in which case you can probably just lightly sand/buff the surface smooth and shiny.

When I bought my car it came with 2 keys, one was aged and worn and the other one was brand new. I put the worn one in my desk and use the fresh one every day. Who are we saving the key for, the next owner? In the meantime, if someone finds a nice solution to refurbing the worn key - I am open to hearing about it.

Get it repainted. I did that. The key chips. Go to body shop. I even had my put on clear coat for protection

If you prep the key properly. Painting it would be the best option. Take it apart, sand it down, primer for plastic and automotive plastic trim paint. Im sure that would last

How do you keep paint off the little horse? Tape and exacto knife?

I'll read the PM now :)

I'll try to avoid the first method then. :p
Is it worth to paint both keys?
Which kind of Rosso should the body shop use to match the other key?

Pics coming in a few hours when I'm back home (I don't have the key with me now). :)

    Maybe it's a phobia.
I will never use the newer one!

Repainted both? Or just the worst one?

Only main key. Spare is ok. Just give it to your dealer and they will give it to their body guy. Then can put on a clear coat.

Guess I'll have to ask Samocar if they could help me (my apartment is about an half mile far from Samocar, even less).

He just wrote in italian "this forum section is fuc*ed up" (in a vulgar manner) probably he meant that our questions are illogical or stupid.

It took them about an hour to repaint and you can't touch it for about 4 hours. So best to drop off and pick up

Idiotic response. Very valid question. Love the no value add responses. That's what these forums are for. No question is stupid.

Agreed - there is a thread somewhere on the forum where I guy dismantles re-paints and re-assembles - result looked very good.

Like the idea of a clear coat - why didn't Ferrari think of that?
Factory standard IMO looks cheap and nasty.

No scrapes or damage yet to key with clear coat. Total afterthought but they should have painted with clear coat.
