Anyone in the PDX with a F430 want to give me a ride? I'll buy gas and lunch.
Ronnie and 993, why do you wtf ? He's been crystal clear. Do u wanna give this nice guy a ride in your Ferrari ? If not, please don't spam the best thread of 2014 with your wtfs. I would, man, please let me know the first time you're in Italy.
Sure if you get close to Czech Republic. You choose the car, Scuderia or a 348 and I will choose lunch.
That's the airport code for Portland. If the OP finds himself in NW Florida, I'll take him for a ride in the F430.
Here's an idea.. go to cars and coffee in Portland and talk to the owners there. If you're not an arrogant ******, they'll probably offer you a ride... esp. if they like you and you're a future owner. I've given rides to a select few at C+C who I really respect and like for free.
My suggestion is to go to a track day close to your area. There is almost always a 430 or two at those events and most drivers are more than happy to give a ride. Bring a helmet and ask nicely, I'll bet you get a ride that will be a lot more fun than a cruise to a local restaurant.
Thanks for the response. In Portland Oregon. Should have asked last year because I was in Italy and Florida. What are the odds? I'll check out a track day. A pcar guy now but looking to switch to an fcar. Never rode in one and didn't want my first experience to be sales oriented. Wanted to find a true enthusiast. Cheers.
Good idea. There are many "firsts" in life that you don't want to be sales-oriented, and you want to have an enthusiastic partner.
VR has a great Idea. Also, a cars and coffee (if you haven't hit one already) would be a great spot to get more info directly from owners about options, what to look for, which one you wanted (if you don't know all of these already). If you ever make it to Orlando I'll pick you up at the airport.... as long as you don't have a ton of luggage ;o)
This is a great idea. I am in San Jose but I too would give a ride (I have a 360 not 430). We all had to get a first ride somewhere.
Yup. Usually the "kid" who rolls up in an evo or his parents stationwagon and then tries to tell the owner about ownership. Sound familar? Pretty easy to see who's got the passion..
I like your style 3.8! Lunch is a great offer. I see other guys that are photographers getting rides and access to cars by offering to take pictures but lunch is a great offer. FYI McCormick and Schmicks has great Mac and Cheese!! It pairs well with ala carte Crab Cakes! YUM Good Luck, hopefully it works out for you.
Last year I was in a murci getting gas and this young guy came up to the car and was drooling all over it. He was dressed in a suit, prob early 20's and just couldn't get enough of the car. He was passionate about cars and didn't ask the annoying questions most youngsters ask "how much" I offered him a ride and boy it made his day. The reaction and greatfulness from him made me realize how important it is to share the experience. It was great for both of us. To the OP if you're ever in OC hit me up, may not have a Ferrari, but we can spin my FGT.
You can also try exotics racing which have tracks in Vegas and LA. It's not sales oriented, more expensive than lunch but not too bad. You are also in the driver's seat and on a track pushing the car. I got enough data doing this to make purchasing decisions, especially since you can drive drastically different sport cars back-to-back.
Well, heck - as long as we're asking; Anybody willing to give me a ride in a Daytona? ;-) Been wanting to ask that one for 40 years now...... Rgds, Vincenzo PS: Thanks again to the Boxer fellow that gave me my 1st F-car ride!
