Whats the best air cleaner for the Scud? BMC, K&N, Gruppe M airbox or just leave the OEM air cleaner?

I just tried the green dragon filter- American made- in my 360 challenge car. My data acquisition system did show about +4 hp gain. Available through Pocono sportscars.

I would suggest the BMC filters, that is what I run in all our Porsches, Lambo & F cars.. Nothing but great results without breaking the bank.

Stripes are worth more performance than any air filter swap.

I use either OEM or Tubi. Right now I have Tubi air filters in my 360, not sure if they are the same size as for F430 or Scuderia. The Tubi filter is similar to OEM paper filter in that it is a paper-like synthetic fiber filter, but has a heavy rubber/silicone seal like the BMC. I have other cars with the oil and gauze style filters and I know they aren't getting the same protection.

Thanks for the straight answer... yeah I'm leaning towards BMC. Will it improve hp? Or better power band I suppose?

Yes, there would be HP gain over OEM filters.. You might pick up a few HP that you might feel in the but dyno.. Its surely not going to make less power..

Let me know if you want me to check stock..

HP gains are pretty insignificant on filters alone.

As a package with other performance upgrades though, you will harvest tangible gains.

The most obvious thing you'll notice from just a filter upgrade is the suction noise from the increased air flow. It sounds cool imho.

yeah I know what you mean... I believe you have the Gruppe M airbox right? I guess it made bigger improvements than the BMC filters :)

Yea, the gruppeM cf box uses ram cone-shaped filters too, like the Novitec airbox.

Before I got the gruppeM I had BMC filters. Really couldn't feel any gains, but the suction sound was cool and it did help the s-line exhaust pitch a little and you get a little less hesitation at low rpms from idle.

I felt it was worth doing. But ya if you want more gains, the filters alone probably won't satisfy your appetite :)

Thanks for this... so the gruppe M was really worth it huh? I thought it had big gains on F430 only and not on scuds. A bit pricey though... so you're saying that you really felt the difference on the Gruppe M than BMC? Right?

I did the gruppeM primarily to protect my engine bay carbon to be honest.

It has an integrated heat shield which covers the entire base and rear facing panel, so it's really efficient at deflecting heat rearwards & out the vents. With the gruppeM the temp in the engine bay dropped dramatically.

Our cars carbon is susceptible to yellowing, or worst hazing/milking over time and exposure.

The intake, together w the blankets, headers, cats & x-pipe = dramatic performance gain and temp drop.

Can you be more specific as to dramatic performance gains?

Oh now I get it... didn't know the panel was included in the gruppe m intake. Yeah I know, thats why I always open the rear lid after a long drive to avoid the yellowing of the carbon. Thanks for the info :)
