HA! People with newer Gallardos have the same issue. Don't let that stop you from enjoying the rest of the car!
That reminds me. I bought some of that purple cleaner liquid at Walmart that was recommended as a miracle cure for the sticky buttons. I definitely need to give it a try. Some of my 430's buttons are a total embarrassment and they annoy me every time I touch them. Ferrari does need to get a clue on this. There's no valid excuse for it. Really weird. I've owned cars that went for 10-20 years and hundreds of thousands of miles, sat in the sun without ever the luxury of a garage, etc. And never had any sticky button problem.
I've done most of my 360 interior (was really bad as I live in Dubai) myself using brake cleaner and Q-tips..... removes the stickiness perfectly but must be really really careful not to even touch the leather as the white marks that the brake cleaner leaves on the leather cannot be removed. I pretty much have just my interior door handles and a/c vents left to do... this weekend's job I think
Paid a priceyy figure for a local ferrari specialty shop to fix the sticky button issue. Expensive but sooo worth it
should start hounding their facebook pages, that's what I do with issues I have from companies I've bought stuff from. They respond quickly usually.
So I have two prices here. The first is paying my indie guy to remove and replace all buttons. Second is the price from stickynomore. What is a ballpark figure for all for a 430?
Just did the drivers door handle grip and removed with some rubbing alcohol and the Purple Power degreaser. It's work getting it off. I was planning to paint over with a low gloss but decided not to because a stripped part,(a piece without the graphics on it) looks like factory anyway. The guy who posted the DIY claiming he did the entire car in 2 hours must have a magic wand too. A few other parts on the car are a bit tacky, but not too bad. The passenger door grip is sticky but since there's a grab handle and I don't have a passenger too often, I'm going to forget about that for now. I wonder if they finally got it right with the 458?
Had a great day of driving around in my 430 but the stereo knobs are out of control sticky. They are so bad now that the black sticky comes off on my fingers and then my fingers are sticky! So I must take urgent action. Pulled on the stereo knobs but they didn't immediately pop off and I became fearful I might break something. So I'm checking on here. Has anyone removed the two knobs from the stock 430 stereo? Do you just pull hard directly outward or is there some trick? Anything I need to watch out for to avoid damaging the amazingly nice Ferrari stereo?
i use "Goof Off" professional strength (you can buy it on Ebay)...that on a rag takes off the sticky layer. Then put "Goo Gone" on the cleaned parts and it comes out looking shiny! One thing is that if you take off the sticky layer on the paddle shifters, then underneath is a dull tan/yellow color. so, one paddle shifter is that color and the other (not yet sticky) is black. I could paint the paddle shifter but I am worried I will spill the paint...but maybe I will try it soon. It all looks pretty darn new at the moment and feels smooth. best, Kevin.
