Hey guys the other day I got my 360 back from the shop and noticed my oil cap was just sitting on there not even acrewed down. My first thought was fricking morons they didnt screw the cap down lol. Well today i was looking and noticed it was loose again. Whats causing this? Am i not tighting it down enough or is there pressure that shouldnt be in the system doing this?

It has happened to me. I just tighten it and periodically check it.

I'm guessing the vibration of the engine is doing it.

Maybe one with a better (newer) gasket will stay tight.

Don't know if the gasket inside can be purchased separately or you have to bite the bullet and buy a whole new cap.

    Good luck.

If I recall correctly, this was a known issue. Suggest speaking with a Ferrari tech to get suggestions on how to stop this issue.

So I talked it over with my Ferrari shop and they told me I should just sell it and buy a Ferrari 550/575 lol. Nah I tightened the crap out of it and we will see how that holds.

I check it before every drive, it definitely comes loose with use.

I have the same problem. Would a 430 oil separator fit on a 360? The 430 has a different locking mechanism on the oil cap?

This happened to me with my CS. I just checked it periodically. There is a new canister you can buy that includes a clip to prevent this. As you might expect, the price was unreasonable. Checking it by hand was free......with the added benefit of checking out the beautiful engine bay. :)

    I miss my car. :-(

I have never encountered this with mine. Do you guys have the newer disaerator? I twist mine on tight and it stays.

The later design tanks suffered with this issue, Ferrari bought out a mod using a small wire cable and two clips to anchor the cap in place. Can't remember the bulletin number but can look it out Monday if anyone is interested...

Im interested in that. Im actually bring my 360 in to Ferrari Wednesday because I smell gas, I checked the fuel pumps they aren't leaking so its probably one of those venter valves or whatever on top of the gas tank. So Ill ask them then about what they suggest on the oil cap backing off. Honestly if Ferraris weren't so damn pretty I think they would sink. I owned my Ferrari for about 2 & 1/2 months now and probably have about little over 9k in it. Oh well its a sexy as car, and ill keep throwing cash at it to keep it alive. :)

As mine is a 99 it seems as if it happens on later models. Ferrari may have unimproved the design.

When I brought my 2004 home, the cap was loose. Just cranked it tight & no problems now.
