Hey Fellas, I have searched a few different ways and haven't found the exact answer I need. I have pieced together some information that might be sending me in the right direction. My questions is this: What is a good, capable solution for wirelessly connecting to the OBD system (and all appropriate ECU's) of the 360? I have read that both wifi and bluetooth are options, and the hardware will differ for each. I have also read that, apparently, wifi offers a better / faster connection, though I am not able to confirm this. For reference, I am connecting to an iPhone 5s. Also, I haven't bought anything yet. With some help from the good Dan (whatheheck), I was able to somewhat confirm my research. You seem to need two parts: 1.) Hardware and 2.) Software (app) As for a wifi-enabled OBD tool, I submit the following for comment (this claims to work with iOS): King Mansion OBD II Wifi Wireless Scanner Reader (Amazon.com : KingMansion WIFI Wireless OBD2 OBDII Car Auto Diagnostic Scanner Adapter Reader for iPhone4S/5 iPad4 iPad mini iOS PC : Vehicle Amplifier Fuses : Car Electronics) --This device appears to match the ELM 327 device-- With regard to the software, there are many choices in the Apple App Store, and many have been named on previous threads: OBD Facile Torque Pro DashCommand ...others... Specifically, I want an arrangement (hardware/software) that is capable of reading all of the ECU devices in the 360 - not just one of them. Please offer me your thoughts and comments on the optimum route to take with this inquiry. Thanks in advance! Raj
I tested a couple of options using my iPhone. One thing I found is that with the iPhone, you are better using a device that connects via Wi-Fi. I found reference that using the iPhone with Blue Tooth is not a very reliable connection when attempting to use an OBD device ... better using Wi-Fi. Apparently, this is not an issue with a Droid device. With Wi-Fi, I have tried both DashCommand and OBD Facile. Both work with Wi-Fi on any ELM 327 Device. With DashCommand, they were not aware that Ferrari has two ECUs. So connection is not assured to which ECU it may hook up with. I am not 100% sure if OBD Facile is totally reliable connecting to both ECUs. It works OK with my ELM device, but only just got it and need to check it out more. I am told it is better. Steve
Steve, Great information, thank you. Please let us know what you find out about connecting to the multiple ECU's.
Yes go with WiFi. I have the same scanner (ELM327) and the OBDFusion iPhone App. BTW the password for the scanner is 12345678. Alan
I remember that from your thread. Caused you some difficulty! Are you able to connect to all the ECU's with this setup Alan?
Raj To be honest I only just hooked it up to make sure it worked okay. I guess I need to borrow my wife's iPad and play around with it. Alan
Update: I'm gonna order the wifi device I linked in my original post today. I haven't decided on an app yet though... still hoping for some more advice from those with more experience at this than me....
Hey guys, I wanted to post my update to this matter, to bring it to "closure." As I mentioned, I purchased the WIFI transmitter device I mentioned above. It was like $18 on Amazon. I also purchased (at Dan's recommendation - thanks) the "EOBD Facile" app. It works very well. I upgraded to the "Premium" version for $14.99 to get full functionality. I haven't even scratched the surface of the capabilities of this app yet - it is pretty deep. But, it works as I intended for it to do. In that, it can connect to two (2) ECU's separately, and read them independently. I did this today, and found it to work well. If I get around to exploring the features of this App, I'll try and post them up. For now, I think I achieved my goal. Thanks for the help.
Hi Raj, glad to hear EOBD Facile App and the WiFi adapter I suggested works for your too. Yes, the EOBD a Facile has so many features to explore but at least for now I know and confirm it can read Ferraris 2 ECU set up and I was also successful in clearing fault codes. Kindly share your experience with the app as you use it more. Dan
Will do! It appears to be very capable, including various performance measuring functions. I'm looking forward to it, thanks for the input.
Hi Raj, my Samsung S3 has an automatic software update feature. So it updated the OBD Facile to its latest rev. It now has a selection for Ferrari on the 1st page. The problem is the latest version now only sees 1 ECU! Did you experience the same issue? I will try and eMail ODB Facile software writer. Dan
Hey Dan, Congrats on 1,000 posts! I did not see any recent updates for this app via the Apple App Store. I am still operating on the original version I described above. Also, my App already had a Ferrari option in the manufacturer listing after connecting to the scanner.
Thanks! So you are using the Apple version instead of the Android version? I eMailed the software developer and he replied back in 24 hours. He told me he would look into it and also gave me the option to downgrade to the previous version. I am now trying OBD Fusion as recommend here by another member. Dan
