looking to change the look of my car with aftermarket wheels, I have seen some wheels that look too big when 20", but also seen some 20" wheels that look great on the f430.... Anyone that did 20" wheels... Would you do it again? Or would you go back to 19"? Any issues with 20" wheels? I want the front and back wheels to be the same size... Either 19" or larger 20". Need some advice... Thanks

If the 430 is like my 360 I would stick to 19 inch. Sometimes the front wheels will grab the fender over wheel and pull it outwards. There was just a post about this problem about 2 weeks ago.

430 has rolled front fenders from factory, it can handle bigger wheels then the 360... is the ride worse with 20", do 20" look to big for the F430?

Bob- To run 20" wheels with somewhere near stock tire diameter, you need lower aspect ratio tires (say 30s vs 35s). This means there is less sidewall rubber between the wheel and the ground, so ride will be slightly compromised and the chances of bending a wheel on a pothole will be increased. Because of the taller rear tires (~1.65" larger in diameter), the rears can handle a lower aspect ratio tire better than the fronts. So 19" fronts with OEM F430 sizes and 20" rears with lower aspect ratio tires are a pretty good compromise. Plus you will not be subject to increased tramlining and possible fender interference with the wider, lower aspect ratio front tires.

Remember, OEM fit for the 599 was 19" F and 20" R, and for the 612 18" F and 19" R, so there is a precedent for larger rear wheel diameters.

one wheel company mentioned they dont like doing the 19" 20" staggered is because then the front tire will have a taller side wall then the rear.... just doesnt look right.. I can do just 19" all around but I feel funny spending thousands of dollars keeping the same size wheel I had.... I'm a bit confused.. lol tires that were suggested for the 20" wheels are 245/30/20 front and the rears 325/25/20
    thanks

Not really true and you can calculate the height of the sidewall easily by just multiplying the tire size by the aspect ratio. On OEM front wheels 225 x 0.35 gives 78.75 mm side walls. A 295/30 20 has ~ the same diameter as the 285/35 19s (26.97" vs 26.85") and 0.30 x 295 gives 88.5 mm side wall height in the rear.

So much misinformation out there. (probably some coming from me, but not this time)

Maybe I will just buy the wheels in a 19" for all four... The more f430 cars I see with 20" wheels, I am getting the feeling that they look to big for the car..

Michael- 295/35 20s are 28.13" in diameter, which is 1.28" bigger than OEM, 4.77% larger, and getting into the area that causes ABS/ASR/CST problems. Did you mean 295/30 20s? The diameter increase is actually 10 mm x 0.35 x 2 (7 mm) x 2 plus 1" (25.4 mm) or 32.4 mm. A lot bigger in diameter.

Fronts are close to the same diameter.

The pics up top were a fun project for me. A forum member bought my 18" modulars for this set plus cash. They were in very bad shape and I had them refinished for fun. My favorite set of wheels are my 19" F430 OEMs finished in Scud grey.

Before you spend the money..I suggest you consider spacers and a slight lowering of suspension.

Those look great, some 360 owner will be very happy to buy them.

How about some OEM Scud or 16M wheels and you have no worries with them? The 458 style wheels used on the 16M are very attractive, as are the Scuderia wheels.

I'm sure going with another factory wheel would be a safe option.... I want to get a wheel a little unique..to make my car... My car... But I will say, after reading some posts I'm thinking the 19" size wheels are the better choice... 20" are looking to big.. And I have read some other posts that guys running the 20" wheels are having rubbing issues... I don't need a headache like that...

Taz, hate to correct you but it's 16M style wheels that are used on 458's. ;)

I agree the 16M wheels would look great, and if I am remembering correctly, they are forged (vs the stock wheels being cast). They would be lighter and stronger. And look awesome. And are also factory- I tend to like the factory look- but thats just a personal preference thing.

    I have 20" HRE P47s.

    I run 245/30/20 front | 325/25/20 rear tires.

    No rubbing.

Car is lowered forgot by how much, but there isn't any finger gap all around so safe to say it's pretty darn low.

Thinking of downsizing to 19s just for sheer performance & tire options.

Ride compliance is indistinguishable between 19s and 20s imho.

Freshmeat.... Do you think 19" look better on a f430 then the 20"? I don't know which wheel you have but I have seen many 20" wheels that look to big..

Russell- Details, details. You are correct. If I said 16M style wheels, though, most people think Scud style wheels instead of the 5 spokers.

Consider the standard Scud wheels, the extended spokes make them look bigger
than 19", and the fronts are 8" wide so can run a 235 thus reducing under steer.
You can pick up a set for around $3200/3600 if you look around.

You can get close to that for your current wheels, so a very cost effective change.
Being Ferrari oem wheels makes for a easy resale if you want to change in the
future or if you sell the car.

With 20" on the front the standard front brakes look puny....
