    Almost have the transmission out... I aboslutely love working on the 360. It's such a simple car to work on. Everything is so straightforward. Not like some of the other "stuff" Europe sends our way. Hope to have the transmission pulled out entirely tomorrow or Monday so I can get a parts order in ASAP.

    Why is so much of the car removed? I take it you are doing a lot more than simply removing the transaxle?

    I agree - with a lift and proper equipment, these cars are very serviceable.

    Doing a lot of cleaning, then replacing the thrust bearing (and clutch, tightening the shift linkage, repainting some bits in the engine bay, etc, etc).

    While I'm in it I'm also going to install the titanium Agency power exhaust, ceramic coat the headers, install 100 cell sport cats, install 10mm spacers under the intakes, and a few other things.

    I'm also going to do a major since I have just about everything torn down. Plus, it's 500 miles past due for that anyway.

    I wish i had the ability to do this. Why would adding those spacers make 10HP though?
    Seems an easy gain for a bit of time.

    ^^^ yes I am also wondering how increasing the intake manifold runner length by 10mm would yield the 10 HP although spread over 8 runners that could add up.

    Thank you :) It's a blast. I love working on my own cars. I only send them to the dealer if I absolutely have to (or if I don't have time/interest for the job at hand).

    Very good question on the intake spacers. Maybe cooler intake temps? More distance for the air to travel, so because it's a velocity stack design the air reaches a higher speed? I honestly have no idea. I will dyno it before and after though, and I will post up my results. If they actually work, I'd be happy to make (rather, have them CNC'd) and sell them on the forum here. Thankfully, the intake looks very easy to remove and replace.

    I would love to see more on this.. If the gains are as mentioned, I would do this while I'm doing the headers, cats and exhaust later this month...

    Couldn't you just add to the top of the tubes as well? I am thinking a nice donut shaped cap that could smooth the airflow over the top and add a bit of height.

    If you are talking about putting something above the trumpets, then no. You will end up with odd vortices within the intake, and you will also reduce the overall volumetric efficiency.

    Removing oxidation, swirl marks (plus other scratches), then applying a polish and finish compound, then sealant/glaze (depending on your personal preferences), and finally a quality wax. Took me about 50 hours (roughly) start to finish. Spent about a week on just the outside. The inside is still a work in progress. I'm dying to start piecing together my interior mods. I hate the black that's in the car now. Well, hate is a strong word, I should say I don't really care for it. One thing at a time though. :)

    Of course! One thing I'd like to add is that the initial cutting stage should be done with Meguiars M105 Ultra-Cutting Compound, a wool pad, and a Makita or 3m rotary buffer. I don't know why it is exactly, but late 90's and early 2000's Ferrari paint responds extremely well to it. Gives it that extra little kick that makes it that little bit more shiny than your neighbors car (who just went over it with the Porter Cable). ;)
