It appears some of you folks just dont drive your 360/430 that much so due to special requests here's my 2nd poll. I have one existing poll for the owners that drive their cars more often: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/470642-how-much-mileage-do-you-put-your-car-each-year-2.html#post143590053 This poll is for the owners that drive their cars less than 5,000 miles / year. NOTE: This poll is for 360 & 430 cars only. if you dont own one of these please dont vote. Thanks for participating. Dan
I voted in the 1,000 to 2,000 range which so far has the most data in your Poll. I have many summer toys so that is my excuse
Mine is right around 2500 - 3500 miles, of course it can be less too. I try to put that much (of course there is fluctuation) on each of my exotics, with the Daily driver getting more than that of course. I think it's good for the exotic cars to put these miles on and keep the services regular and correct to interval requirements as cars that sit and do not get driven are not nearly as good as those that do and are cared for accordingly.
I drive mine when I want to - family, business and travelling between homes means that some months even in the summer the cars never get touched - I don't think about it! Every year the cars have a full service before winter and the years roll by. Best in my opinion not to get too hung up on how much is too much and how little is too little.
I use to be in the low mileage club with my Ferraris...but now I drive my exotics. Maybe antagonistic, but if you cant afford to drive the car and want an investment, there are far better investments than a Ferrari. No excuses...especially with the newer cars getting 7 years free maint. MB Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just traded my 430 in this week with 7,800 miles. Purchased in August of 2013 with 2,200 miles - so I averaged a little over 300 miles / month. For me the main reason for the low miles driven is that I like for my F-car drives to be "special" and I limit the driving to do things I enjoy - i.e. going out to a nice dinner date with my wife, the occasional get together with my C&C friends, Saturday morning drive down to the beach, ect.
I personally think that the most of us are not afraid to put miles on the Ferrari. Most of us aren't keeping these for concours shows. We just have a lot of other things going on and only so many hours in a day. For most Ferrari owners, this is just one of many toys and not a daily driver. Very similar to the number of boats out there with low hours.
Americans work too hard...especially the type that can afford Ferrari's ; ) So I agree that is a huge contributing factor in this country - lack of time. But yah there are people that are scared to drive them or don't want them to depreciate. To each their own!
I personally don't care about mileage. The issue is time. I wish I had more free time to enjoy my toys. . In addition to time, weather conditions limit the use of my car. Living in NE the weather is unpredictable. Winter is out of question. Especially the kind that we've had so far. Summer is a different story. There are times that it can rain at least a couple of days during the week; and if that happens to be on a weekend that's it! No rides. lastly, as someone else said before, when you have too many toys it's hard to enjoy all of them as equally. I just purchased a motorcycle. So once the weather breaks, I'm very excited to take it for a ride. I'm sure that my motorcycle rides will take time from my car drives. So we are going back to the initial issue. Time!
not good analogy. Having carnal relation with your supermodel GF doesn't cause you to lose money. Putting lots of miles on your exotic does. Suppose Big Brother knows how many times you perform and charge you a significant sin tax. I would venture that may diminish your activities.
Well many would argue that both are here to be enjoyed to their fullest which requires using them. Besides, the exotic is waaaay cheaper than the supermodel. It will also age far better ; ) But honestly, the whole thing is subjective. You could easily get some track junky that thinks it's a waste not to track the car regardless of how many street miles you put on. You lost me on the second part.
2-3k miles a year for me. I try to drive mine every weekend. Consider my city (Hong Kong) is only about 400 sq miles, my mileage is not bad I thought.
Here's the secret to being able to drive your car a lot without putting more than 2000 to 3000 miles per year on it. Get at least five cars or more and take turns.
