Hi everybody, was wondering if anybody here ever try race fuel on a 360 with out mods? And if so, which type? Thanks in advance
I use a 50-50 mix.. UNOCAL premium, and UNOCAL race fuel 100 octane unleaded.. never Dyno'd but my but DYNO says there is a difference!! (probably wishful thinking).... plus the exhaust smell is intoxicating while warming up in garage!! I continue to fuel up in this way.. and have for many years. O yea... its $9.00 a gallon! and running in Challenge Stradale.
there is a commercial product "RACE FUEL" ... it is a additive in concentrate form that boosts the rating of fuel... they show performance improvement with their product... no need to haul large quantities special fuel... appears relatively cheap... just add to pump gas when a boost in fuel rating is wanted... go to their internet site... search race fuel and it will come up...
Key words in the above statement............. 1) Concentrated additive 2) "They" show performance improvement 3) Appears relatively cheap 4) Just add to pump gas when you want a "boost" in fuel ratings The only statements true is # 3 & I'm not talking about the price
In order to get any material benefit out of race gas in our cars you need to make sure you upgrade your muffler bearings first.
Only makes a difference if you change the compression ratio in the engine and retune the timing, air, and fuel maps to work with the high compression. I use Sunoco GT100 speed jugs 6 gallons per fill in the racecar because it's required. On a street car I don't see the need. It does smell good though... Nothing like the sun coming up in the morning heading into Turn 1 on an early qualifying lap, smell of race fuel and freshly bedded brake pads!!
