Signing up for the "No Fly Zone" which is an event they hold at a local airport allowing cars to go as fast as they can in a 1/2 mile......
I purchased a F430 Spider 4 months ago and will enter it in this event. The car is stock and would like suggestions on:

Top up or down (think I know this one)
    Driving mode, sport or race
    Fuel additives...running 91 octane
    Other suggestion?

Any Idea of speeds the car will do in a 1/2 mile with a running start of 20 miles per hour?

    Thanks....

1/2 mile is a very short distance you're going to realize very quickly, you might get to 150 or 160 tops but very hard even to hit that.

So in reality it really doesn't matter what you do or try as it might affect it so slight you wont even notice.

    Top should be up
Get higher octane fuel if they supply it, DO NOT DO ADDITIVES
Race mode all the time every time

I assume they will have cones set up for visual markings where to let off gas and then another set to where you brake hard.
P.S take out floor mats, and anything that is loosely lying around, under heavy breaking last thing you will need is objects or distractions flying about or worse under your brake, clutch pedal or gas.

I was lucky enough to race on longest military runway in Canada 2.2 km long or 1.4miles, even at that distance it is extremely difficult to hit top speed. I was driving my Lambo which will do 209mph, even with 550 hp, race transmission, and in firm setting suspension best I hit was 311kmh or 194mph.

I did at least 10 runs trying different settings, nothing really made a difference more than the initial launch.

So just go out, go fast, top up, or top down, relax, enjoy yourself :)

Me at top speed destroying my competition :D:D

remove all unnecessary weight, such as but no limited to: carpets, engine compartment cover for the gas tank, wheel horse cap, etc, very little gas left.

:) Yes, and don't forget to remove the windshield wipers. And you should really probably shave your entire body and drive in a Speedo.
Also make sure to keep the radio off so the music doesn't fill up the cabin and weigh you down with bass...it's all "'bout that Bass, no treble. 'Bout that bass...bass...bass"

Remove floor mats, don't need those getting caught up in pedals if you slide your feet to quickly!

I was invited to do something like this on a runway about a year ago and it was a blast.

I kept the top down for the hell of it.
I put the car in Sport mode.
    No fuel additives.

If you have carbon ceramic brakes... be sure to warm them up. On my first run I didn't do this and had a very serious "oh ****" moment when, at 150MPH, I planted my foot on the brake pedal and the car didn't slow down nearly as fast as I thought it would.

    Have fun...

Was reading more about this event, interested to go.

    Omega Motorsport Events

It appears there's no timing equipment? No results given of 1/2 mile time / trap speed? Just "choose your opponent" and see who's **** is bigger?

Would be really cool if they rented some professional timing equipment. For $200 a car, I think it'd be in the budget.
