I found this little gizmo hanging down under the dash on the drivers side, below the fuel door/bonnet switches. (no the dash isn't purple, that's the iPhone)

Anyone know what this is? Does it plug in somewhere? Some function not working?

I've already checked the ejector seat switch, it's not that. Any guesses?

Does your car have factory / aftermarket bluetooth? That doesn't necessarily look like a electrical connection.

I'll peak under my dash when I get home.

It does have factory bluetooth and definitely looks like an OEM thingy. Just what kind of thingy is the mystery.

Bob- I went out and felt around in my car and found the same connector tucked up in the same location...and not connected....the plot thickens!

LOLOLOL!! Thanks Mike, misery loves company. The plot thickens indeed.
There's only one "wire" and I don't see a place for a ground. Who knows...

I fished around and found it too. Just danglin' there, all by itself. It's a very strange looking connector, keyed one side. Only one wire.

I can confirm that my car is still running. So it must not be important.

Can we see a pic of what the front of the plug looks like, i.e single/two wire or round/square connector etc?

Single wire. One side of the connector is keyed. Very small opening on the plug.

Thanks Rick, Guess we've got a minor, of no consequence mystery since all are cars are running fine.
so, to summarize the current possibilitiies...
    Flux capacitor
    ejection seat switch
NSA monitoring a former employee (hmmm, would have been viable except they are monitoring rick and matt too)

    Wild ass guess...
TPMS reset switch connection. 'Old' F430's had a reset button under the dash. The new ones don't require a manual reset or so I have been told.

Tim might be on to something??? I can't look at the moment to check. The manual seems to show it mounted under the dash, not hanging but the location is correct. The car does in fact have TPMS. The gizmo might have become dislodged from the mount, it does look like it has some kind of bellows that could be pressed.

Hmm- mine has TPMS also. My connector wasn't mounted to anything- it seemed to just be resting on the ledge under the switch panel. I just checked under dash in that location and there is no button or button mount.

Not the TPMS switch. Mine is a 2005 and has the switch and the mystery connector from hell.

Just to be sure I just checked the switch. It is already connected to a more traditional wire harness.

Keyed? Could it be for the Euro cars passenger airbag shutoff switch or battery cutoff switch.

No, keyed as in a key way cut into one side of the connector.

I purchased my 360 from Cauley Ferrari and a week or so after I had the car, I noticed this same wire dangling from under the steering column area. According to them it is the diagnostic connector for the engine ECUs.
