because you can enjoy exhaust sound LONGER than in a scud or a speciale from from 6000-8500rpm
I find some truth to this, some of my favorite cars I've driven were pretty underpowered so you could wring them out everywhere you went and get lots of noise/excitement. However, I'd still take a CS/Scud/Speciale.
+1- I went from 360 coupe (had for 5+ years) to 355 spider w/tubi/hyperflow. Having lots of fun and can wind it out and hear it more without being tempted to go 140 I do miss the 360- wish I could have both at the same time... Speed in and of itself doesn't do it for me anymore...the experience is it! I think the 458 & F12 are the last cars Ferrari is making that really interest me (great driving experience)- the 488 w/twin turbos is just removing some of the involvement for more torque, FF never liked, Cali never liked, hybred super cars don't interest me, nor do turbos. I'm getting old I guess I think Luca got out just in time.
You might have a point. Even the Ferrari 360, which by current standards has "normal" performance figures, is crazy fast and powerful for city streets. You can't get up to 8500 RPM in any gear, not even first, without breaking some kind of law. Something to be said for having a car you can flog just about anywhere. I guess that is why Miatas are so popular.
